Theories are awesome to wonder what if, I feel the dev in my opinion wants Hutch to witness or at least be there when he bangs Vivian. I think dev wants Hutch to know he is Banging his wife. Whether he hears it on phone or waits while the boss is Banging Vivian.. that's the key focus of the VN .. that Hutch sees or hears it.. otherwise they would just go to a room and Hutch would never know.. the boss wants to destroy Hutch and steal Vivian. I don't think he's looking at the knives at that scene. He's broken at that time and the surroundings in front of him just disappear in a blurry vision in such a situation.
If he were angry he would have a stricter attitude and would lean firmly against the sink with clenched fists and then direct his gaze to the knives.
DEV created good renders with showing off the emotions of the characters and if the knives would come into play DEV would have shown us different renders.

I'm surprised on how many people in this forum are against Hutch. everyone's calling him a CUCK/WEAK/Pussy whatever but maybe its just me I see someone that is a conflict-avoidant Person, even some of the definitions describe him to a tee,

-some people avoid conflict at all costs — even when the conflict is necessary. These people can be described as conflict avoidant. To avoid rocking the boat, conflict-avoidant people might bottle up their feelings and sidestep discussing important issues with others. or pretend the problems don't even exist.
