Chris wants to degenerate their relationship completely - which also involves introducing other partners into the business.... well my perspective is christian is just a rich dude that enjoys power and stealing other mens wives. the thrill of not getting caught also plays into this.. now that everyone knows whats going on the only thrill christian will get is cucking an torturing hutch.. as he stated he has done it before.. where are those women at lol.. he will get bored once hutch is being a good cheerleader and cleaning him off too.. but until then he will make hutch feel pain.. lots of it.. then she will just go to cucking her son.. love how she was yelling at her kid while rubbing his friends face on her tits lol that was classic .. i love that woman

I would never associate the term "throuple" with it, but I think Hutch meant it one way and it's possible that Vivian could take it a different way, because the "discussion" they had about it was anything but clear.

What Hutch said could mean:

1. "I'm open about our relationship being a little unconventional for a while. I don't want to know the details, but you have your meetings and your little sex sessions with Christian, get us through this difficult period, and then in a while he'll get bored of it and we can go back to how things used to be."

Or it could mean:

2. "I'm open about our relationship being a little unconventional for a while. So go fuck Christian, go fuck whoever else you want to, just don't tell me about it, I don't want to know the details. Get through this tough time, get it out of your system, then come back to me and we'll try to move on and go back to how things used to be."

So I think Hutch meant the first one, just Christian, and I think that's how the game will play out. But if it plays out differently, Vivian could understand Hutch to have meant the second one, and think he's therefore giving her free rein to fuck anyone - the mechanic, and the twins and whoever - as long as she doesn't tell him about it. This way, actually, you'd get more of the NTR vibe, because she would be doing it thinking that her husband has given her the green light, meanwhile he would be there thinking she's just out fucking Christian and no one else.

The thing is, I can definitely see it playing out either way, and think the dev would do a good job whichever one does end up being the chosen path.

Yeah I agree with this 100% and the only reason I said throuple was I genuinely couldn't think of another word to describe it

Also with the incredibly vague description of there new relationship dynamic it provides enough foreshadowing to allow hutch to have fun if he wanted that is so maybe that's why it was done that way or maybe it was just done cause the Dev knew we'd eventually talk about it haha

I'm still not sure on this particular train of thought. For me, Christian sees Vivian as a plaything, and he obviously has a kink for using other men's wives (he talks a bit about this). What would make Christian feel better though: making Vivian fuck other men, or making other men feel jealous of him for having Vivian on his arm and maybe doing stuff (touching her, exposing her) in front of them while knowing they can't touch her?

We shouldn't forget the possibilty, that the boss also intends to humiliate Vivian herself (and the couple as such), not only Hutch. I don't think he is really interested in her in terms of any kind of relationship at the moment.

I can agree with this , its somewhat similar to when children no longer have interest in a toy but once someone else starts playing with it the child that had no interest suddenly shows and interest as it's now something they can't have - so for example if the marriage was to break down and end or hutch just submitted to it all I think Christian would lose interest in it all

Christian strikes me as someone that enjoys the control element of it almost like a puppet master or he's the director and hutch and Vivian are his cast

Now I know that isn't a perfect fit but I couldn't think of another way to describe it

I would agree with this , but I've also been toying with the idea of what if hutch only made the relationship unconventional/ gave Vivian the freedom to make sexual choices of her own will as another test ... Obviously he doesn't want it to happened but he sees it as a way to see what would she do in regards to this if it's all on her own free will rather than the premise it's to save his job

So by doing this he gets to see if she wants to do it rather than she had to do it , as hutch did say it's up to her what she does next

So this way he gets definitive answers before he makes any next steps or makes any definitive decisions around the marriage

i think you should prepare yourself for hutchy to clean vivian up after those loads are deposited in her brother.. i get you want hutchy poo to turn into the terminator but i feel like hutchy is going the other direction ..

Alright, but it's no coincidence, that those rules either belong to classical drama or to the classical period of the movie industry, dominated by economic principles (not meaning money but also as an aesthetic and psychological paradigm: having a tight grip on an audience and using your tools carefully). Postmodern approaches to storytelling have less problems with threads going nowhere. Tarantino got already mentioned in the thread in another context.
(I know, rifle, but as a non-native speaker, I imagine a rifle when saying gun in contrast to a pistol)

Or you can create an antiplot, of course. David Lynch style, for example. But this doesn't really seem like an antiplot. And if you do weird things in a conventional narrative structure... Well, you're either a genius or you'll botch it up.

I can't find the post I'm thinking of, but I think the dev talked about it without explicitly saying it would be revealed. I know a lot of people took it to mean that we would have a flashback (or others later talked about seeing security camera footage), but I remember thinking that the dev didn't actually say that. Might have been a "talking code" post like the conversation Hutch and Vivian had, or I could be misremembering it, having not been able to quickly find the post to confirm or deny it!
