I'm not a fan of such a scenario either - but it can't be ruled out.

It doesn't clear yet. Month. ;)
And just like in The Game, a well-crafted scenario would sprinkle when players started playing out of the box. Here I am already running well beyond “we know what is”. - but in that case Marcel could be the person who reveals to Vi that in fact everything is gameplay (Cigarette SMoking Boy).
Marcel was protecting her if I remember correctly. He tried and she refused. Would it have been Christian instead of Marcel well we all know what would happens then.

I am not good with words so pls bear with me:
First about the backyard scene Scstories wrote
It needed to happen to establish the rest of the story. It happened quickly in order to get to the rest of the story.
So it doesn't matter why it happened, it maybe due to direct/indirect blackmail, Vi lust or plead or even MIND CONTROL. It doesn't matter, but it's what followed that matters.
Hutch was too shocked to show any emotion in the backyard scene. I would like to think he would have forgiven her if she came up clean with him. In his mind he thought there is a rational explanation of it. So why didn't he pressured or shouted at Vi for it. I think for 3 reasons 1) he isn't shouting type 2) he is here to save his job 3) he did not want to embarrass her infront of his boss even though she humiliated him.

The ONLY time Hutch cries is when the bedroom scene happens. Why cause in his mind THIS IS THE BETRAYAL, he denied it & was vocal about it but Vivian not only shut him up but went willingly to sleep with another man knowing he can do more and still going along with it when I think he asked, she should subconsciously know that Hutch can hear him. She goes nude to kitchen passing by her husband and starts fucking there till she came. She goes down on Chris even before the bedroom door was locked. Keep it up till morning & wearing his shirt like a lover would.

The above scene shows Christian was testing the couple specially Vivian from the start, giving her dress, not inviting her, backyard sex but it is when she shunned Hutch & took his hand he knew he can control her however he wants.

Till the end of CH2 she never felt guilt for the cheating, she felt guilt for hurting Hutch or getting caught or falling in love with Christian but never ever felt guilt for the action of cheating even after knowing it was all for nothing.

TonyMurray
I see it as getting into a dominant and belittling role
Till chapter 1 she was humiliating Hutch unknowingly and unwillingly, mostly behind his back thinking he can't see or hear her.
the phone talk in night (I think Hutch evesdropped on it), the talk about pill, she fucks in the dress that Hutch loves, willingly giving handjob in the batroom with wedding ring hand, messaging while fucking (in corruption stories the bull need to have quite a hold over fmc to do this that's why Chris joked work-15 - she don't want to stop -3 - he even jokes.jpg ) etc. work-8-word dont match action - 2.jpg work-8-word dont match action - 5-bull is right - 5-change-hand.jpg

She was quite harsh when Christian mocked Hutch work-5-reasoning-4.jpg

But it all started to change in the Chapter 2. She now in my opinion knowingly (subconsciously/in-the-rush-of-moment maybe) but still unwillingly (at-least consciously) started to humiliate Hutch.
The first scene where she kisses him (he asked for it) and removes the lipstick from his cheek (he didn't asked for it) is something a lover does (at-least my experience), after doing all that she looks at Hutch (now she remembers he is there). The frontyard scene she was concerned while she was somewhat modest (dressed giving a blowjob) but totally unconcerned when she was fully naked and fucking him. She was all for Hutch till Christian gave her a order where she didn't even let him change clothes or shower. Publicly lashed out on him, kicked him out of the car.

There is no TRUST.
Yep. I think after the cheek kiss in ch2 when she assured him again he said "sure" (showing distrust) and after the frontyard fuck he again gave her chance to confess which she dodged IRC. So yes even if Hutch is made into cuck in the end he don't/shoudn't trust her anymore.

And if she finds she needs a lover to fill in where husband fails, she is entitled to that.
First the asshole thing, it's now a pet name for him like a lover (you know like hunny-bunny, sweet-pie SO calls each other)
work-23 - affectionate - 3 - pet name.jpg
And secondly WHY? why she is entitled. Will it be same for men? I am not from west so don't understand it this go beyond marriage to seek fulfillment for emotional or physical support. the word "entitled" feels very powerful to me, in this case worst way.

I think the talk in Ch3 will be bad for Hutch in any case. If she confess everything and put a stop at it then it maybe a little good but we know it won't happen. She will tell Hutch that she is liberated & wants to explore things with Christian & others or she will lie and manipulate him that everything she is doing is for Hutch & will stop when he settles and Christian is not a bad person as he or she thought.

I think the later will come true as now she knows lie & manipulation can lead you into your truth of self. Till now she thinks Hutch isn't a CUCK but over the 2 ep Christian was filling her mind that he is a beta and everyone else including Sunshine hinted he maybe secretly enjoys it. So she will start to manipulate him to see how much she can push him.

Humiliating Hutch openly and willingly is the last corruption Vivian will get. As Christian clearly enjoys it & in my opinion needs a broken Hutch so he becomes a puppet like Vivian.
Why?

Lets see while all the crazy things happening with Vivian we get some glimpse into Hutch here and there. He is really the number guy, without him the deal wasn't possible (Vi's fucking was a bonus even if she didn't fuck the client the deal was final). Christian says this "Do you think I'll put a pussy before a million dollar project" (something like that). If the client knew Vivian from before and lusted after her that may be a different case but it wasn't for this one.
He don't trust her anymore. Becoming more indifference towards her (while the frontyard bj was happening he was there).

I think the drama in later chapter will be Chris & Vi trying to make a Cuck and he refusing it (no revenge I guess).

And if the ending takes very darker tone that I still believed it'll be achieved through SON being being bullied and dying.

Thanks, xcalibar4. Even though you criticize wife in ways I would not, you are not vicious towards her or women in general. I think wife deserves a more sympathetic analysis, but that is me. I think wife does understand what she has done, and shows that when she says she hates herself. I think at the end of chapter 2, she is ready to be honest with husband and try to get him to understand that she does love him and wants him in her life. I would say that she is facing a very difficult time of trying to make her relationship with boss work while she stays with husband. She might even fail at that. That would be a very dark time for her. I feel her conflict and her pain.

It is true that this is all outside social norms in both of our societies. SC has deliberately written it to be that way. He wishes to tell this story as ugly as it is. So I think we would be wise to walk this walk with him and see what he is trying to say. I don't think he is trivial in this. This is no ordinary porn game.

I think we should listen more careflully to wife when she tells boss that he cannot break her. This statement will be more significant as the story develops.

I am not from west so don't understand
You certainly are on a fast learning track here into the current state of the western mind. And how it destroys what was its most valuable strength - the capacity to debate. A porn game which is meant to be exciting and in the best case like this one to be interesting and complex is taken merely as an opportunity for simplistic moral indignation or identification because this makes the people feel better I guess. And this is an entirely on-topic-topic because - how do you deal with that as a dev? I don't think hate-watchers vs love-watchers is a sustainable model. Are ypu keeping that in mind while writing? Are you even playing at that or with that? Are you trying to make that a topic within your game itself - that's how I tend to interpret the discourse with Sunshine in the bar for example. Not as authoritative statement about how to feel and to judge (as a lot of people seem to take it here) but as presenting one well-known and, to be honest, worn-out contemporary voice and mixing them ideally with other voices like a DJ mixes tapes. We need, in one word, a plurality of voices relativizing each other within the game. This could be an intelligent way out of this mess. Maybe next time Marcel giving his thoughts...

I wonder if she is starting her plan Christian said he told her what she wanted to here . so he basically lied to her to get what he wanted. I find it odd she says the same thin again to him when she is leaving. He did not really answer it. but , did she really just imply that ... that is what she is doing ?
What plan are we talking about?

Or Chris convinces Hutch to sell her out but I agree on what you are saying.
Chris doesn't need to convince Hutch of anything. Hutch no longer has any real power over his wife. If Chris wants to offer Vivian to his clients to do with as they please, he does so without asking permission. Basically, Vivian is Chris's property. She's his whore, and he can do with her as he pleases. Hutch has no say in this. I think that has been made very clear already in this chapter 2.

Bitch says I rather sleep in a cardboard box with you than a mansion, but then sleeps with his boss; make it make sense. Everyone can do a lot of analysis if they want, but as long as the result is not Vivian is dirty whore, that analysis is wrong

i maybe cynical but i believe a persons actions define them , there words are simply excuses for the betrayals they have done.. butchy goes on a business trip and what does wifey do? what are her actions? does she stay home and be a good wife regardless of hutchy's open marriage proposal ? oh wait she goes out an takes it in the butt , an any other holes she can think of.. actions will always scream louder than words . period

i believe when presented with a proposal like open marriage . a person has the choice to do what they want , what they feel they need.. episode 2 is vivian doing what she feels she needs . you cant manipulate an individual that is dead set against something unless deep down inside it is what they truly want to do and that is the person she now has decided she wants to be . sad she went from a beautiful housewife to a sexy hooker in 1 day

It's more a picture of that - how easy it is to destroy a structure if you know where to press (Rork). In this case - the smallest cell of social order ;).
"give me levers and I will move the earth"

however, I think the author has something else to offer

episode 2 is vivian doing what she feels she needs .
rather.... What she would like to try. "slut apprentice"at this time.
we'll see if she really likes it

If the whole town is in on it, a spider web or trap or maze-scenario (including figures like the "mayor" etc.) this would shift the story definitely into something surreal. An imagination, a dream, a fugue (as Lynch called it). This would explain the exccenticities of the plot, the sex in front of the house, Sunshine and rain, giving phone numbers to Marcel, also scenes like the mechanic, and the dinner ch. 1 which I always found nightmarish. But this imagination would 1 have to belong to one person - which one? And 2 I would think that we would have already more signals of a psychological direction behind it (fear, guilt, bad conscience, trauma), of a reality breaking through at certain points. At the moment I'm on the brink of wishing for this scenario out of reasons of aesthetic coherence.

Edit: More possible indications of that (not saying it's probable): the fact that Marcel coincidentally played basketball right there and then where she was with Sunshine and Rain. The image with Hutch looking through the window others have talked about already. The hotel clerk. The car getting taken care of is also something you would wish for in reality but it does happen only in dreams. The choice of wine which can't be explained (and is connected to a real life memory?).

Also the repetition of motives (which is an element of dream logic which builds variants of a rest of real memories): the parcels with clothes lying in front of the door. Repeated phrases and words. Again sex right in front of Hutch the second time as a totally improbable result of the evening and him looking (this seems to be a consistent fear/motive - meaning having been caught in real life once?).

xxx

(If we follow the Mulholland Drive paradigm, it's about a "small existence" which is projected by imagination into the grandiose: in that case Vivian would be a schoolteacher with a husband who lost his job which was financially devastating and she felt helpless and developed contempt for him. She probably once cheated with the neighbour and got caught or fears that.
If we follow the Lost Highway paradigm, it's about a trauma which gets overworked or worked around by imagination: Vivian could have been raped or otherwise sexually traumatized, her husband didn't help, she felt she had to be strong alone)
Both caases would be delusional compensatory empowerment imaginations.

Well I don't know if your theory is correct, but it fits the neck tatoo of Vivian "dream within a dream", which to me is the key of the story.
But maybe like some of us I'm over-analyzing this story too much...
