If Hutch is smart and plays his cards right, he could move out and fuck Addison.
It would be an improvement, she is younger, better looking, not corrupted.
(Sorry for the long reply, it's just that this one comes up a lot, but it was your post that made me decide to drop in my thoughts today.)
Heart says yes but head says no (kind of...).
That's part of the appeal of this game for me as well, to be honest. I literally have no idea how it's going to go - it could easily go in two completely opposite directions at the moment, and both work perfectly.
As far as Hutch and Addison goes, I would say that Hutch (
at the moment) is showing no signs of doing anything. He looks like he's still in a mindset of despair and apathy (I sort of wanted to look at seven stages of grief, but I could make an argument for about four or five of them with one in the middle not really touched on yet). So far, there's no thought of evening the scores, either out of spite or genuinely for his own benefit. He's also shown no indication that he likes Addison as anything other than a friendly colleague.
Just because there's another character who appears to show interest in an MC, doesn't mean something will happen. And technically, all the interest we've seen from Addison could add up to nothing - "she's very sweet once she gets to know you," and maybe the only reason we see anything more there is because we're looking at it through our porn glasses. So far, she's just trying to comfort a colleague/friend who's going through a rough patch at work.
Also, in these games, I'd say it would be unusual (though not unheard of) for the "victim" of the cheating to start up something of his own. But saying that, dev has long said that this isn't a typical NTR game, and perhaps that might be one of the areas where it breaks the mould a bit...
On the plus side of the argument, despite what she's shown her thoughts on it to be, Vivian herself suggested to Hutch that he could even the score. She might say she would rather gouge her eyes out, but she
did give him permission. On top of that, even if there was no interest in that way towards Addison, Vivian has planted the seed. She specifically asked Hutch if he was close to Addison, and even if he was fucking her (though not in so many words). So if he wasn't thinking about it before, maybe he is now...
What we have at the moment is the direct opposite of the usual mindset we tend to see - usually the guy wants an open relationship so he can fuck other women, but says the woman isn't allowed to fuck other men. Vivian knows that is a selfish standing point, she knows what it says about her, but is she going to have to make the "noble sacrifice" herself, and get a bit of a taste of her own medicine? Will that be what (if anything) brings some sort of resolution to their current situation?
Arguing against one of my own points from this post, there's also the "Checkhov's gun" element of whether dev would give us an attractive character, who is at the very least always acting in a positive manner towards Hutch, and give those little hints (Vivian's bits from the previous paragraph), and then not have anything happen. It would be a bit of a bait and switch, but as I said at the start, it's one of those things that I could literally see going in two opposite directions and both still working.
Chapter 3 could be "make or break" for Hutch. If things go well (and IMO, dev has a good record so far), I can see Hutch turning around and becoming a favourite character for many players. From what we've heard, this will be a chapter where Hutch is more like an MC than a side character, so we might expect a bit more agency from him, and to learn some of what's actually going on in his head. If he remains in a state of apathy for the chapter, I don't think it would be a great release, so I'm not expecting that - at least not when he's elsewhere. Maybe he's only in that frame of mind around Vivian at the moment, because he doesn't know how else to be around her, and any lighter feeling he may have would probably be hard to keep up once he is hit in the face with the reminder of what's happened.
