It is true that angry bitter people can gather in a forum and rant about their politics or hating women. When I arrived here a month or two ago, the women haters were very busy. All women are incapable of rationality, incapable of real love etc. What I think is, if these guys get no resistance, they think they have found a place where they can spout their trash and get reinforcements from those who agree. Opposing them has not resulted in firey fights, angry disputes. I assume they are now looking elsewhere for the confirmations they want.

Feel free to still doing like this if it works for you. Thing is, this people you describe don't want to debate or read your POV, because they think it's lesser important that theirs and not interesting at all. They just want a place to spill all the poison and/or frustrations they have inside.
I'm here to talk about games. I'm subscribed to the threads I like for that and I don't want to read this kind of users. So they are on my ignore list. When you (or others) interact with them they feel validated and will always try to impose their POV. The thread will got off on a tangent and will become a never ending story. I havent run into a troll like that for 15 years at least. These days we are more likely to get broken people, perhaps even autistic, who probably had a rotten childhood, have been bullied and abused most of their lives and have no defenses against the kind of ridicule they can get online. They get hurt. We have no idea what that means for them or where it will lead.

I think there are people who are bothered by the fact that their ideal life is the family seen in margarine commercials, in church, in romantic movies, and you bother them by exposing them to a more unpredictable life, following their potential to free themselves from guilt and moralism, without thinking much about how society will judge them.
