ll could of been one in the box and we just never saw it , no I firmly don't like Vivian let's be honest I've not been shy about it haha

But I guess the letter in the box theory is me giving her some benefit of the doubt rather than it being after that meeting for the first time she instantly like I'm gonna fuck him and that will make everything ok

I'm trying to give her some form of redemption here and it's just got away from her
I don't think there was a letter in the box saying that, for a couple of reasons. One, it would be pretty stupid of Christian to do, as it would be a piece of evidence that could be taken to Hutch and also to any employment tribunal or whatever. It would be a really poor move that I just can't see someone with any sort of brains making, if he was actually looking to get out of that night what he did get out of it.

Two, he tells Vivian a few times that he has never made this offer, and it's all in her head. It's part of his manipulation, making her think that he's forcing her, but he's very clear in not saying the words. It's part of the "the door was always open, you just had to leave" talk. If there was a note detailling his plan, he wouldn't be able to go down this path and say those things, as she'd just turn around right away and say "that's not what your note said."

As far as the car ride goes, whether she knew what actually would happen or not, I think it's clear that Vivian knew that something would likely happen, and she was psyching herself up for it (either to do it or to defend against it). I took it as telling herself, as much as Hutch, that she could look after herself, and that she might have to suffer a little discomfort to get what she (they) wanted out of the evening - remember of course that they were going there with a plan of their own.
seems to me that you are not viewing the setup for the backyard event which tony posted being the first 1st event and the ending being the 2nd. and to make the 1st event happen(the backyard) the series of events which led to it are vital which almost all seemed to have glossed over. vivian going to the office and at first glance of the boss becomes a teenage girl in love. the kiss on the lips then on the cheek shows that christian has figured out he can seduce vivian. now he just has to figure out what will hutch do when he fucks vivians.
christian later tells hutch that vivian doesn't need to come for dinner so that he can know who is the dominant one in the couples marriage. and sending vivian the dress is an indirect form of reinforcing his statement in the morning saying if vivian doesnt come the dinner is of. vivian understood that she will have to hurt hutch in order to keep the job or something similar is going on in vivian head as the couple get ready and go to dinner in the car (these conversations are all vivian trying to rationalize she is doing this for the family/marriage/job and not consulting with hutch about what she did in the morning meeting the boss without telling hutch). when christian kisses vivian on the lips and says im glad she is the one wearing the pants that when vivian realizes she is the one being tested not hutch and still doesnt think adding 1+1=2 but 0. before vivian goes to the back yard she cries knowing she will have to fuck the boss or thinks that's the only way to let hutch keep hutch's job. so not note in the box the christian sent to vivian ... it's all clearly laid out for the reader in a nice red string.
I think the poster above touched on the most likely scenario. Vivian is forced into some compromising situation with one of the twins - it could even be something relatively harmless - but it is recorded and they use that as blackmail. You do X Or we show your son this video. Again, Vivian is faced with a difficult decision, but given her fears regarding Hutch etc she will agree.
i wasn't explaining the theory, i already posted this possible event with the twins a week or so earlier. you and some others explaining what will happen in the event or what might is different from me just saying a future event is possible. to be more clear we know for a fact there is tags for group sex ... which can be grouped with the twins and vivian. i not trying to make sense of how they will end up together .... i'm just stating that there is a event in the future with the twins.
But one thing I would definitely like to see happen is that Vivian develops some aspect of willpower/self control as it is non existent at the moment , legit he interactions with Christian largely go like this

Christian-lets have sex
Vivian-no I can't it's a one time thing my husband
Christian- awk go on you know you want too
Vivian - I said no don't make me leave
Christian- you know you want to tho
Vivian- ok but only for a little bit but I won't like it

Proceeds to ride him into battle as if her life depends on it and absolutely loves it , so I would like to see her actually put her foot down and actually stick to it

I also hope it doesn't become that he uses telling hutch what they have been up to as blackmail to get her to do whatever he wants or that will become old real fast
we already know this happened in the bathroom and look at how it ended ... not think there will be any redeeming qualities for vivian in the future as those will make the story not dark. i have tried all kinds of logic to make vivians actions not look like a total disaster, there is only one situation where part of the blame can be diverted to hutch its when hutch seem the cheaters/lovers(at the end of the update) in the backyard. other than that there is no situation in the update where vivian's actions can be redeemed ... in my view.

when christian kisses vivian on the lips and says im glad she is the one wearing the pants that when vivian realizes she is the one being tested not hutch
Again, quick correction to say this is the other way around. She thought she was the one being tested, but once this happened at Christian's, she realises that it was actually Hutch being tested.
Vivian "~ To herself ~ Oh shit!"
Vivian "~ To herself ~ I wasn't the one he was testing..."

Same here. For all that anyone might have to say about Hutch being weak or not dominant enough (etc.), I think what he got right is that this started with Vivian, and if it's going to stop, it ultimately will have to end with Vivian. Sure, Hutch could have reacted differently, angrily, and said it was all over, or even had an extreme violent reaction, but he picked up on his wife becoming motivated to do it more than just to save them from dire financial circumstances. That was the initial reason she was motivated to act, but she came to enjoy the experience more than she was willing to admit to him and to herself.

At first, Vivian made the stupid move of going to speak with his boss in the morning, thinking she was going to handle the situation. Instead his boss set forth a strategy of divide and conquer, pitting husband against wife. He told Hutch to leave his wife at home after he had told her she better be there and sent her a dress to wear. This sowed conflict between them, and when she showed up having "won the battle" and was still of a mind that she had to handle the situation (while having experienced more of an initial attraction to his boss that she was willing to admit), she played right into his trap.

On the drive to his home, Hutch repeatedly tried to warn her (as he had the previous evening when she suggested the idea) about the kind of man Christian is (a charismatic womanizer), to which Vivian responded:

"I'm fully capable of handling myself if he says or does something inappropriate, okay?"

"I'm a big girl. Let me worry about me."

Then after she agreed to sleep with his boss, Vivian told Christian while they were talking in the kitchen:

"My normal self doesn't exist anymore...my normal self would never have slept with you."

Then when her and Hutch were having the talk at home, Vivian further said:

"These last few days I've felt like a ghost living outside my own body...seeing everything that was happening but unable to do anything about it."

And during that same talk at home, Hutch told her:

"Like you said, you're a big girl. I'll let you worry about you." (echoing her own words from right before she gave in)

"Do it...don't do it. It's up to you." (either she has the willpower/self-control to not do it or she altogether wants to do it)

So yes, I would like to see more of Vivian's willpower/self-control come to the forefront at some point, hopefully not too late for any hope of salvaging her marriage or herself, perhaps as she thinks more of consequences and what she's sacrificing. Is it worth becoming less and less recognizable in relation to the person she was or ideally wanted to be (her ideal self)? And even if her actions save her husband's job or family financial security, will she in effect stain her reputation and become so different compared to who she was that she can no longer be the wife she was or the woman her husband loves?

Those are some thoughts I've had about this. Maybe they will matter in the end; maybe they won't. I'm still hoping we're not going to see a total fall from grace for Vivian and utter despair for Hutch while Christian gets everything he wants and just continues to move forward, gleefully victimizing couples during a time of weakness and feeding his ego while doing it.

Yeah I can't find any redeeming qualities in her either and in regards to hutch and the backgarden I put it down to shock on why he didn't say anything

I do wish he had been more vocal in the living room as she's not being held accountable for anything and when she was apologising during it I would of loved for him to of said are you actually sorry or are you just sorry you got caught sort of thing

I find it problematic, because this is a history of suffering, from both Vivian and Hutch. Vivian suffers because she cannot control herself and Hutch because he cannot man up and confront neither Vivian nor Christian.

As DEV said, this will become even darker. I read this as a expectation that the suffering will increase. Lets wait and see and prepare some popcorn.

this was already posted by me a few weeks back about y its more vivian's fault than hutch when deal breaker or dark archon made a argument for vivian being the victim or something similar if i'm remembering it right. the excuse vivian makes that she is a big girl, this statement is strung along all throughout the update.
your's and chaotic justice's view of vivians trying to regain her will and self-control seems at best hopeful.. i say this even though i wish for it to happen since anyone who supports the couple having a best of the worst ending will in some way wish for vivian to do better.
having said that i don't think vivian will regain her will and self-control and say not to all that might happen in the future updates. a clear indication is the sneak peaks which shows the emotions of the characters and the body language in those images. firstly the way vivian is dressing ... it gradually becomes sluttier. the pink dress, the black dress for the party, and finally the show it all dress for the dinner at a high-end restaurant. whichever order it may be the see through dress im assuming is in the last even when it comes to the sneak peak events.
then there is the emotions in those sneak peaks which again shows vivian not being bothered by who ever is seeing her naked(most of the time), she is even happy at the restaurant with christian. and hutch's expression at seeing vivian in that dress just shows that he can't believe this is what his wife has become. hoping someone would come up with a theory to rebuke this or maybe it just becomes the actual fact of how the kn progresses.

I agree with your assessment and fully expect that Vivian will slip further from her ideal self than she was before with the next update. It's more like you said about the possibility of eventually catching herself at some point when circumstances become bad enough, perhaps even coming to dislike the darker version of herself that she's become. We did see a sneak peek of her struggling with her feelings in the shower. Maybe this is on the road to getting worse, or maybe it's her starting to struggle more intensely on the inside. We will just have to see.

Show it all dress I don't recall this has anyone got a picture, intend to agree with you but I would say if she wants to save the marriage or at keep up appearances that she is trying to save it or get back to how it was there will need to be some aspect of control , I like to think after hutch's kitchen scene a fire has been lit in him / the beast has been woken and I'd like to think if he thinks Vivien has lost all control he will walk away from it all

if or will vivian save her marriage is a whole other issue which may or maynot be answered in the next update . so just waiting for the update. and trying to purge all the theories before the next update release. my guess is that she will do what guzti said ... go deep into the rabbit hole in the next update.

I have tried all kinds of logic to make vivians actions not look like a total disaster, there is only one situation where part of the blame can be diverted to hutch its when hutch seem the cheaters/lovers(at the end of the update) in the backyard.
Can you perhaps explain the point about the backyard in more detail?

dunno what's there to explain here... hutch having seen his wife having sex with the boss... he should have intervened or did something...anything. that is a major flaw and can be equal to or worse than what vivian did until that point of the story. dunno about the rest but i ready posted my thoughts on hutchs reactions and brought it up several times. him being broken is understandable but not taking action that is the character flaw of hutch. dealbreaker made a post giving reason for hutch's reaction about that flaw, about media and society and genz and such not going into detail about that topic just search this thread.
still not sure if i have answered your question.

I have read dealbreaker, yours and others who have been there from the beginning.
I misunderstood you. I understood that Hutch could only be partially to blame if he turned out to be a fraud (company, data clients, money) or a lover (Addison).
