IDK about being permanently abandoned, but in the last communication I had with ZL (the developer), they were really busy IRL so only had time to squeeze in a little bit of work sometimes. I believe they are still working on this, but progress hasn't been great, obviously.

The last I knew, ZL-Games (the dev) was just really busy with RL things, IIRC especially with work being super busy. They do continue to work on this when they have time; it's just that they don't have much time to do so. Personally, I don't want anyone else to try to recreate this or anything because I would like to see it continued by ZL.
I agree, "would" be best to continue w/ the original developer, but this game was last updated by current dev October 2023, 15 months ago. I'm open to new ideas if the characters remain constant. Original developer can still offer their ideas to continue project regardless. I just want to see the MC bang Milly

I don't want a developer's project kifed by someone just because they had to pause on its development when reality forced them to step away for a bit. Plus, what you propose has its own set of problems. As one example, it's extremely difficult for writers to maintain the same voice of characters when taking something over. Milly will sound one way in the first part of the game, and then sound a completely different way later on. It's been 15 months... so someone else should seize this game from the original developer? If someone else basically took over your game and you were only there to "consult" with them, how would you feel? But sure, let's screw over the dev because you "want to see the MC bang Milly".

But what is even the point for a different dev to take this one over ?
There is barely any content, one of the most overused storys there is and so far the plot has gone nowhere...
Really, just make a new game with a cute main LI.

For me it's more about protecting creators from being wronged than anything else. It's incredibly common for people to steal someone else's work (or at least their idea). Just look at how often a film comes out with a knock-off that just jumbles a few things around and then runs with it (compare Deep Impact with Armageddon, for instance). I know most folks on this site don't actually care — we being pirates, after all — but personally I find the idea of hijacking an existing work highly objectionable. It doesn't matter to me whether I think a story (or game in general) is done well or poorly; unless a dev is actually an asshole to everyone, I will always hate the idea of stealing someone else's work.
It is what it is, I guess.Not that the points you bring up aren't good and valid, of course. But that still isn't my primary objection to the idea.
