Please not misunderstand this as pure defense of the revamp, as if you read my review I'm not happy with the revamp either but for somewhat different reasons:
Well with the MC moving into a new home together with the stepfamily (the house was provided by Jack and Warren) makes the title "My New Life" more fitting. Yes Rachel, Markus and Morgan are not old friends but they still quickly and neatly fall into these roles and believably so. The other characters in the school are also introduced quite well. (which wasn't a strong point of the original game and that is now though the best part of the revamp: the school content) But I agree that the family content was handled better in the old version especially regarding Sarah.
- Yes the game got darker and I hope to see more witty and funny light hearted scenes although if you look at the Brenda storyline regarding Charles being a virgin an acquiring his semen, the absent mindedness of the MC was pretty funny TBH.
- As I wrote earlier. Less grind is good (for example visiting schoolmate X for relationship points) is good, while less puzzles (like the downgrade of the Rachel changing her exam mission) is bad. I hope BoN realizes that and changes it accordingly.
So yeah, I hope as much as you do, he goes back to more puzzles and good storytelling with lots of adult content!
