Actually I've never tried to drop paths and I'm not sure of the side effects that may have in the Julia and Cassandra paths in the long term (those are my favorite two as well).
However, even if you only focus on Julia and Cassandra, we're talking about a guy how took advantage of his aunt when she was emotionally defenseless and is pretty much doing the same thing with his own mother. He could've helped them without fucking them, but he didn't, so...

yea some do ~1 game per year with monthly updates and some extend game to multiyears with monthly or ~bi-monthly updates and some barely get off the ground ina year or much longer.
