I did not use Japanese locale, and it works just fine for me. Try running it without.

Isnt that pretty much what...Bonetown(? I think that was its name)tried?
They even gave the TPS genre a shot in the sequel.

Game feels a lot like some of the Alibi games like Witch Island or similar, even the sex scenes had a similar feel. That company I believe closed but maybe some people moved to the one that made this game?
