Update Review for version .9
Pros:
Good Art
Decent Writing.
Promising
Cons:
Grind. Need to get your desire above certain points and Shame below points to trigger events. Problem is most events reduce shame by 1 or less, and increase desire by the same. If I need 45 desire, and only get .8 at a time... its going to be a miserable grind getting anywhere.
I originally marked this game as 3 stars, but its rounded out surprisingly well.
Its not a particularly deep game, and I probably miss a lot of the appeal by not being familiar with the world its parodying. However, it is a fun little corruption game with decent art.
I will say the art and characters feel a little flat at times. I rarely felt like there was much reaction to the things that are happening. The main character, cute as she is, seems to always look a little vacuous and spaced. Kind of steals a bit of the impact.
My complaints about grind remain, however.
And I wish there were more interplay between the different routes. It often feels like the various parts of the PC's life happen in different dimensions. I understand the reasoning behind being able to unlock every ending during a single save, but it (like the vaguely flat affect) dampen the sense of stakes and add an almost surreal quality from the proceedings. Which is a bit of a detriment, imo.
Still, its a great popcorn-esque life-sim/corruption game, so its definitely worth your time.
