Wow! Lots of comments. While my render is chugging along I'll try and answer some stuff.
You could create yourself a "buy me a coffee" page. I don't think that will rub anyone wrong. No paywall blocking, just allowing ppl to donate if they like the development and are able to.
Thanks for the update! Maybe you could open a tip jar so that we could help you to hire a DAZ tutor or buy assets from the store? Note that this is not for rushing you, instead I just want to express gratitude for giving us this fantastic game
These are fun ideas and I'm touched that people would be willing to do that. Perhaps someday down the road, when my RL job settles down and I have time to properly devote to this hobby, I'll find some way to monetize it or allow donations or whatever. Things being as they are now, knowing people are excited for the next installment, I already feel quite guilty about being so slow. If I was getting money/free stuff from those people, I'd feel even worse.
But I really appreciate the kind sentiments and encouragement. That's payment enough.
you are doing well at this game not many people can just go in and learn coding variables the important thing to remember when doing this is the labeling of what asset and what scene goes to X variable as often people mistype them then we get an error
for the daz issues I heard others mentioning how it had an update that messed with the settings maybe you can ask around in the help forums to see if anyone got a fix or work around for such
That's probably what I'll wind up doing. For 99% of the DAZ troubles I've encountered so far (issues regarding lighting, posing, animating, etc.) I've been able to figure out solutions just by googling my problem or watching a youtube tutorial. I'm always hesitant to ask a fresh question. Seems like every time I do that (in almost any internet situation, not just DAZ), I get a "hey it's a new asshole asking this old question that we've already answered 8 dozen times! Why don't you check earlier in the Q&A forum before wasting everyone's time!" And then I feel like a douche.
But I'm approaching the point where I'll have to swallow my pride and timidly raise my hand...
When you are cracking open games and learning from their code be extremely careful. A lot of games on this site are coded terribly but since most people don't see it they work fine.
Find someone who is going for the kind of complicated choice base style you are going for. Make sure that they are pretty successful at it as many of the first attempts at creating a game will stall due to not having enough knowledge and foresight to plan ahead for a myriad of variables and other things that will continue to grow in complexity with each release.
I recommend cracking open The Adventurous Couple as it juggles a good amount of variables with a high demand for additional inputs.
That's good advice. I'm pretty careful about which games I examine. I generally go for the smoothest, most playable ones, and even then I make sure that I fully understand what they're doing before I try and do something similar in MVB.
I haven't played Adventurous Couple! I'll check that out.
Seems the dev is a bit more passionate about the ntr routes, based on the pics at least.
I do confess to having a soft-spot for NTR. In any storytelling entertainment (not just erotic), I like it when a physiological reaction is elicited. I like my horrors spine-tingling, and I like feeling short of breath watching an action film. The best, however, is when I experience a physiological reaction I wasn't anticipating. For example, tragic feelings while watching a comedy (the "Jurassic Bark" episode of Futurama springs to mind), or being touched by simple romantic moments in an otherwise action-packed romp. I love mixed feelings. NTR has always fascinated me because jealousy is an intensely negative emotion which contrasts sharply with the hope inherent in erotic longing.
I think of erotica as safe playgrounds for the imagination. Women can enjoy rape-erotica while (rightfully) fearing and loathing the act in real life. Similarly men can enjoy NTR while (understandably) fearing and loathing those circumstances in real life. The fact that both rape and NTR erotica generate so much controversy indicate that the physiological reactions are indeed real and compelling. I can't stay away from that. It's too interesting.
THAT SAID, I don't enjoy NTR exclusively. Perhaps my favorite game I've found on this site is "
The Headmaster." It has no NTR (I think) and it's basically a harem game (a genre which typically bores me). On top of that, it's focuses a lot on BDSM, which on my personal kink-o-meter rates about a 5/10. That said, the game and the story and the characters have charmed me, and I'm experiencing physiological reactions which I didn't anticipate. Great storytelling will do that, and that's what I'd like MVB to do as well.
Lets be honest, guys, SukebeSensei is a bit of a like whore. I think he’s liked somewhere around half the posts in this thread.
Ha! Guilty. I like the fact that people who hate the game still care enough to weigh in and tell me they hate it and hate what I'm doing. "It's not romantic enough," or "it's not vanilla enough," ... those are fair criticisms. I don't know if I'll respond to them by fundamentally changing the game, but maybe I'll try and work in a little more vanilla or a little more romance. Ultimately I like that they weighed in so I give them a

.
I do find it interesting how vocal the anti-NTR people are. Sure, for every rabid hater who gets on this site and fulminates, there's probably 4-5 normal people who check out the game, say "meh. not my cup of tea," and silently move on to something else. But the people who go out of their way to express their intense displeasure (at a completely free game!) ... it's kind of fascinating. A guy a few pages back seemed to be complaining that I was being disrespectful to the DAZ asset
I played a game awhile ago that had well-conceived artwork and a good premise, but half the women in the game were obese or old or a mixture of the two. Some had skin problems. I respect what the Dev was doing, but it was definitely not my thing. Out of curiosity, I read through the forum thread, expecting read a bunch of "ugh! Why'd you put uglies in here! You killed my boner, you son of a bitch!" Instead I saw a bunch of, "finally! A game with realistic women!" or "I've been looking for a game featuring a granny! Thanks!" It was kind of touching. Lots of people have lots of different kinks, and it's good that they're finding what they're looking for. I hope MVB does that for some people.
There's lots of vanilla, non-NTR, harem content out there for people who hate this game, and I hope they find it. But if they want to stick around here and get emotional, I'm OK with that.
Anyway, that's enough babble from me. My render is nearly done and I need to set up the next one. Thanks for the comments, everyone!
