I'm almost finishing the story of all the characters and at the end of the day my favorite is Iris, like the secondary character that I didn't even think would have so much content ended up being the best, she could easily be one of the main girls, or is that just my love for goths talking louder.

I you're into that sort of thing, it's probably not worth the download. If you aren't into that stuff, it's easily avoided.
Keep waiting. The wait time is usually 7 months to over a year for each update - for the past few years at least.
Funny enough, it has been 8 months since the last release, I was expecting another "I'm so sorry for disappearing, the update will be out soon!" post sometime last month. I'm preparing myself for a 12 month wait this time

No, it's in "bare minimum" mode. To be "abandoned" they'd have to stop posting on Patreon (they always post wallpapers 1st of the month), or fail to update the game within 18 months. About 3 years ago, they started phoning it in, and turned this game into $3k/month of passive income. Just put out a short update (the kind they used to do 3x a year) once a year, and inertia will carry it on.

3 things about this.
First, it is the way tags work here, the devs don't have control over what gets tagged or not. If it is in the game, it gets the tag, no matter the quality or amount.
Second, the devs of this game don't really come here any more, and are not likely to read what you said.
Third, we have no idea what will or won't be in the game in the future. For all we know, they could perfect that potion, and optionally give it to everyone. It was a pretty recent event after all. Who knows what they plan to do with it?
"Recent" in the sense it was only a few updates ago, maybe. But it was also June of 2021, so over four actual years ago, which is about half the games life span. I wouldn't call that recent.

Recent in that Nef has had 1 other event since then. So one event ago.
Recent in the story.
Big picture, that's been Jikei's MO for several years, one of the recurring criticisms is that he just keeps adding side characters.
To be blunt, it *does* seem like tag-maxing. People like goth chicks? He put in 2. Pregnant/Impreg? Oh hi, Jessa. The minor transformations aren't quite scratching the furry itch? Here's a club full of mythics that have more distinct animal features. Last update he added a shrunken girl (who will inevitably jerk off MC with her entire body).
Each new kink added will net them a few people who will subscribe, not knowing how the project is being milked.
That doesn't actually make it recent by any reasonable conversational standard, though; it simply means that the developer has woefully under-served the game for four years, if you're calling something from mid 2021 "recent." There was less time between the games first update and that scene, than there has been between that scene and today.
To put that in comparison, I wouldn't call Hitman 3 (also released in 2021) "recent", simply because it was only one Hitman game release ago (World of Assassination came out after it).
It being one of her "most recent events" is kind of like someone being "the prettiest leper"; it's not a worthwhile standard of comparison, and it mangles the use of the word beyond utility.
