Too look at it from another perspective

The more support they get, the higher the demand for new content and quality of content. I'm sure devs can still pump out an update in 3-6 months, but people will complain that it doesn't have content for their favourite girls, or it looks shit, or there's not enough content. Therefore bigger updates are required, so everyone is happy, bigger updates mean more coding, more writing, more renders.

VNs aren't outside the "project management triangle".

That's a lie that absolutely nobody believes.
On the contrary, the content is still less than when it was released. I'll even give you games I've supported since day one. I even have an Excel spreadsheet with over 50 games, and they all have less content compared to their release day.
This is the same for almost all games; obviously, there are exceptions, but they're not the rule.

There are 100% milkers in AVNs, I'm not denying that, I don't know enough about this dev to comment since I finished this game for the first time a few weeks ago, but if basically every single AVN's development slows down the further into the story it gets, then that probably means this shit happens for a reason. I speculated as to why I think why, you disagree. Cool. Great.

Some of those later events feature Jade in them so you can only continue with Sunday events after she joins the Mythic mansion as a resident (7th event of her story iirc).

I take it the devs went the whole "you the backers decide our game for us route"? First time playing in a long time and i have no idea who most of these side characters are, most are barely fleshed out if at all and are sorely lacking in sex content which would be i assume the whole point of filler characters.

They are unique and hot do not get me wrong but forgettable for the most part, maybe the devs are planning an update or two just focusing on the side girls? Some have been there forever and a day yet still needing content such as the clothes store clerk and the assistant at the library. No idea how someone so tiny like the newest one will even work either - she either has to grow up real fast to full size or just be a tease as no chance of sex content with that one despite her being for some reason the one who is actually moving into the harem manor lol

The fact that this game still has such a high number of supporters is honestly a joke to me. Seven and a half years, and they’re delivering the absolute bare minimum — meaning one special render per month and MAYBE one (far too small) update per year, which then introduces new characters instead of building on the existing ones. These devs must be living the dream: doing NOTHING and still cashing in.

The game has always offered the same outdated quality, because aside from the animation upgrade back then, absolutely nothing has changed. Plenty of other AVNs use this same graphic style, yet they manage to polish and present it in a way that looks far superior to what it actually is (I won’t name examples because I’d probably get banned or the post would get deleted).

I honestly wonder what supporters who pay real MONEY every month are thinking when they continue supporting this project. In the early days it was still a solid package, but now they’re fully riding the scam train with their feet up. Delivering at most a TINY update per year at this level of quality is borderline fraud.

There aren’t even progress reports anymore, so nobody really knows whether anything will even happen this year, or whether they’ll just continue pushing out their monthly special art BS.

I know I should technically keep a low profile as someone who (rightfully) hasn’t invested money into this project, but seven and a half years — and this is the state it’s in! Absolutely crazy.

As someone who sees quite a few games, I wanted to respond to this. We really don't know much about what development is like for Jikei. It's easy to say the developer just pockets the money. I hear Sony676, Pierrotsol and Scumstango about the way it looks. It doesn't look good, but perhaps there's a reason why it became this way other than just greed. I'd like people to be still open to that. But on that note, I agree - I probably would have pulled my funding to send a message as well.

And yes, if you're not paying, you really shouldn't complain about people paying. Let alone complain about you would want that. If people didn't massively support Jikei, there is a big chance we wouldn't have had this game. Their reasons for supporting the developer through such a long time without an update is their own. Suppose a bunch of those supporters are $0.90 or $4.50 tier - most gamers aren't going to notice a $0.90 (Or $12/year) withdrawal on their card. People vote with their wallets and clearly, over 500 people are comfortable with what's happening right now. I pulled my vote on at least one game this year, and that's really the only thing one can do from a personal perspective. I hope it felt good to get it on the forum, and honestly I think quite a few people agree on the puzzling question of what is going on. There's no need to shame the paying members, however.

Maybe scumstango is right and most people leave their subs on out of habit. That's how the big media corpo's do it as well. In that case, well played. Not my game nor my style, but well played.
