I just downloaded the game. I unpacked it, started playing and every save doesn't work the same

I'm a little confused. Are you saying the saves you're making right now aren't loading? Or are there saves included in the game file?

So, it sounds like you're saying you started playing the final chapter from old saves, which worked, then made some new saves and closed the program, came back to it and couldn't load the new saves.
Just to clarify ...
To put things as simply as I can; if you made any save files prior to the final version of the game, just don't use them. Restarting the game from the beginning is the only way to be sure to avoid these issues.
If you've started playing the game from the beginning and saves you've made with that playthrough don't work, then that's an issue I'll have to dig in to.
I've never had this game before, so I don't have any old saves. I just started playing now and none of the new saves I made work. Is there a log or something similar that I could send you to help find the error?
Ah, okay, now I understand. Which platform are you on? Could you post your save file?
This is... extremely weird. I've actually got another coder helping me look into this to see if we can figure out why this is happening. I'll hopefully have news on this soon!

Nice to read another one of your logs Nine, it was fun to read a long one actually! Glad to know about how it is going on Steam side of things with B1 and more insight about MC of B2, definitely will be great to learn about other chars in future logs. Overall also glad to hear so many good things on second half of your log. An adorable teacup, watching a fantastic movie and your mother doing better; am happy that all those wholesome things happened, something to cherish certainly. Take care there Nine!

I figured it out!
Book Two is really the secret plot for the next Charlie's Angels movie!
Okay, good news! We figured out the bug; apparently this will happen if you save the game before you ever get to name your character. It should be fine if you make sure to save after the "Interrogation Room" bit, though maybe save after the opening shot of the cemetery just to be sure. This is getting fixed for future versions.
