Alright, as an apology for insulting your beloved mode of transport, I'ma cure your imposter syndrome. You're an actual imposter, and the self doubt is the result of the gap between the language you're using to describe yourself and the actual nature of your creative endeavor.
You're under the delusion that your are a game developer. You aren't. That's someone who directs a team in a communal effort to build, you know, a game. They function beneath a higher management structure which provides them arbitrary internal deadlines.
Mythos is a novel you're writing. Or your its author/illustrator. Whatever. The point is you're not "developing" shit. You're a solitary artist, but you're judging yourself by the standards of tech-company corporate jargon.
VNs aren't really games. They're a new kind of book with... like, a veneer of gamelike qualities. But since they're coded, rendered, and based on platforms traditionally associated with games, we've defaulted to using the old terminology of inappropriate to the nature of the works and the process of their creation.
Try thinking of yourself as a novelist for like a week. I guarantee you'll stop feeling like a fraud, that inferiority complex will clear right up, and you may even stop feeling guilty about taking an extra week make your art better.
Either way, for the love of god man, stop groveling. What are they gonna do, withhold their monthly pittance?
Here's the bottom line. You're a writer, Mythos is a good book, the people you're apologizing to are beneath your contempt. You've earned yourself the right to a little artistic pride. Start using it.
Let's play comment killer, shall we? I'll be the motherfucker! (Nothing personal, pal, I'm a dick anyway. I just had a bad night's sleep. Plus, the weekly human sacrifice is cancelled because Nyarlathotep's got a cold, so you know...)
You seem like a nice person, I hope you don't take offence at my stupidity. Sometimes I take too many stimulants...
"I'ma cure your imposter syndrome"
That won't be difficult, because she doesn't have any. (Of course, everyone has character flaws, I for one like to be an expert in other people's lives. It makes me feel much smarter.)
"You're under the delusion that your are a game developer. You aren't."
True. The developer (project manager) recruits a team to do the work for him. Then he takes the money for the work and claims he did it. Nine artists (writer, composer and other).
"VNs aren't really games."
Mythos is not VN. It is a logic/detective game.
"Try thinking of yourself as a novelist for like a week."
"If you change your mindset, even your mindset will change!" Coelho
(No offense, please, but I couldn't miss this.)
"What are they gonna do, withhold their monthly pittance?"
Nine sets high standards for herself. " A lot of the content I create I scrap and redo because it doesn’t hold up to my standards for myself."
It is a kind of humility towards art. Sometimes Freddy Mercury used to go to the stadium alone to practice for concerts. Simo Häyhä also said that practice is very important.
"Mythos is a good book..."
And the sky is blue... (Yes, you are right.)
"for insulting your beloved mode of transport"
Well, that was a big mistake indeed. You know what happens in myths to princes who get naughty with the
witch. (Sorceress! I mean a sorceress!)
I think there was a time when damnedfrog was Blessed Prince too, only...
