I wish I could go to the areas I want. The forests and swamps are still coming out even though I've already cleared them. Also i don't know how to use items...

Technically, the items you find are upgrades that automatically take effect, either immediately or after a specific requirement.
I don't actually know if they're carried over to the next stage, but it would be cool later down the road to customize your loadout after getting and upgrading them

Out of morbid curiosity I tried running the game with Russian Overkill.
It sorta works, but there's no way to go through the portal to start the game.

What I meant was that it is easy to avoid getting grabbed because presumably the game is balanced around not wanting the player to have to retry each stage a dozen times, but it's Game Over when you get grabbed. So it's an H game where success is characterized by the absence of H content. If you could survive getting grabbed then the game could be balanced in a way that not getting grabbed is more challenging, opening the door for a form of success where H content is present.
but you can access the hentai scene after completing the phase. just go to the gallery

in any case, it's a cool game I guess, I'm not sure if I liked the 3d-but-actually-2d thing.

oh boy oh boy, its been a minute since ive seen a game thats gotten me this excited! to celebrate the occasion, i'll say a few words on what i think of the game overall, starting with:

Gameplay
as far as gameplay goes, this game fufills my sort of fucked up desire for a Dark Deception style porn game (weird i know, but hear me out). "what is this, Deception in the Dark you speak of, o Wise and Powerful Incubus?" you may ask. well, put simply, Dark Deception is essentially a 3D, Horror version of Pac-Man that has you running around collecting crystal in various mazes. the thing that Nakara does differently and what sets it apart, is its much more open in MOST respects. the area you have to run around in is quite small, but you arent limited to just narrow hallways and such. you also have access to a variety of power-ups that passively affect you upon collection, with a limit of 3-4 per dungeon. they can augment many aspects of your defense, mostly in the way of recharging your sword or making it less dangerous to get grabbed. they also carry between levels provided you dont get gotten. the movement feels really smooth and my only real complaint comes with potentially what could be hardware restrictions but, i'll get to that later. it also isnt a horror game, which lends nicely to my next point,

Art Style
im a MASSIVE sucker for pixel art in games like this (Happy Heart Panic is a personal favorite of mine, and im quite active on that forum), and this game delivers AMAZINGLY on its art direction. everywhere from the level designs, to the enemies, to the H-CG, its all *chefs kiss*. the characters designs are all ADORABLE, and the scenes themselves are near-perfect. i love when scenes progress/loop, and this game does that wonderfully while maintaining the game over doom feeling. the level design is also incredible, which ill cover a bit now.

Levels
As of v0.1 (the demo), there are three levels ( 1705832757989.png )that are playable, with each being accessible via a portal in the hub. the portal, to my knowledge, will take you to one of the 3 levels at random, a feature while annoying, will likely be changed in future builds. the levels themselves vary in difficulty, atmosphere, as well as enemy variety. ill start off with by far the easiest level,

-Dark Forest is in my humble opinion, easily the least challenging of the 3 available levels. set in a dark gloomy forest, there are rings scattered throughout the level for you to pick up. they refresh when they get low as you cant collect the goal all in one go. the more rings you collect, the more of the areas enemy, Nightmares, will appear. they function off of Weeping Angel logic, or using Dark Deception terms, most similar to the Goldwatchers in Deadly Decadance, in that they only move when you arent watching them. this level is daunting at first, however it becomes a cakewalk when you realize they actually move slower than you, so if you keep moving and avoid running directly into them, you can easily pass.

-Swamp Of Death a step above the Dark Forest in difficulty, this level is set in a swamp, with various stone pathways for you to run across. be warned, that stepping on these stones causes them to sink into the water, where swarms of Swamp Stalkers lurk just beneath the surface, waiting for you to step in. they are much harder to deal with given the enviroment, but not impossible. just keep moving, and try to stay near the paths as to not be slowed down. an issue ive noticed with this stage is that for whatever reason, being near the corners causes massive ammounts of screen slicing typically present with V-Sync acting up, but that doesnt seem to be the case. possibly an overflow with sprites, im truthfully not sure.

-Path Of Belief the final and absolutely hardest of the 3 levels, Path Of Belief is a nice nod to all you indiana jones fans out there. the stage is set on a set of treacherous plateaus, in heavy rainfall. this is to your aide, however, as the raindrops reveal invisible pathways for you to cross to collect the rings. falling down will not instantly kill you, but you will gain a certain ammount of Curse per fall, and once that fills... best not to think about it. youre not alone, however, as this stage can have 2 different enemies. the first enemy is the Harpy, who will periodically swoop toward you across great distances if youre within her range. she can fly over gaps, and is very keep on getting to you. the second enemy is the Spectre, a Chameleon-inspired enemy who can cloak for short periods of time, appearing to teleport due to her ability to cover great distances. similarly to the Swamp Stalkers, she does not attack instantly, as she has a short wind up before grabbing you, but dont let your guard down. plenty can and will go wrong. which about brings me to the end of this little review...

Final Words
Thanks for reading all the way to the end! if i had to sum up my experience for the game, i would say its a challenging game, yet really well made! i really hope we get more of this in the future, as the game has a lot of potential. i cant think of much i would improve, but i will say that Swamp Of Death overall has a lot of preformance issues that can probably be chalked up to too many animations/sprites happening at once, and Path Of Belief is no joke to try and overcome, but it was worth it to do twice to fill out the demo gallery. i cant wait to see what this game has in store in the future, and until then, this has been Stan, your friendly multiverse traveling Incubus, and i'll see yall soon!
