It's part of the whole island thing... By fulfilling the prophecy, the MC and Echo are considered married and call each other husband and wife (even if you declined her)..
Yes, you are forced to marry Echo, even if you're not on her path...which sucks, overall the game is almost kinetic, except you can choose if you want to ''romance'' a LI...alas the game sucks if you reject some LI's, as in they still behave as if you are on their path....

I still need to play the Island Arc but as long as it isn't a real marriage ( like how it would be with Eliza) but one for story reasons I don't mind. But yeah if it's a romantic marriage fuck that being forced.

Yeah, I'm not happy about it either. I'll play again in an update or two but will drop it if things remain as they are. The very least I expect is for Eliza to freak out, because she's been clear on multiple occasions that she desperately wants the MC all for herself.
If you committed to Echo, it would be a quasi-romantic marriage, at least in practice. I don't know if there's some kind of ceremony if you're on her path.
It does this constantly, the same with Tazzy in the bath and Pearl on several occasions. I wish more scenes would be skipped when not on someone's path.
Yeah, I got that. I mean, the MC got his poison immunity from the soul of a goblin berserker. When going to the island, this "trait" was nerfed until his magical immune system worked around the shield. This makes me wonder about the nature of these traits. Would a goblin berserker on the island be weaker? Or is the MC's magic replicating traits of souls instead of inheriting them?
Well 3 of them are deities, i think you can reject all 3...haven't tried that thought
