just a question

is shunith like immortal or something? coz at the end the main character dies of old age but shunith was young
I still have not finished the game but I think it's implied that Shunith is an avatar/ is Shub nigurrath. Outer Gods are immortal and timeless.

Shunith is Shub-Niggorath's human avatar designed to mate with another human, and the MC was chosen by Shub to be her partner.

It is mentioned many times in dialogue with various chars that gods do not adhere to human logic or time. As an avatar of a god, this also applies to Shunith, which also explains her ability to absorb the colorless fog on the path to Hatsur's shrine. It is also mentioned, a lot, that in the dream world, everything is a possibility, yet the MC chooses to willfully remain himself as a human.

Since he was chosen by Shub, Hypnos could not change him into a mythical creature when he entered the dream world with his colleagues, which is an effect of being blessed by the goddess.

From the MC's perspective the happy ending is named appropriately since he is able to live out a peaceful human life with Shunith in the dream world until that life expires. What happens to Shunith after that is not the focus of that ending, and would be up to the whim of Shub.

In the Goddess ending, the MC gets assimilated into Shub's existence. My headcanon is the same happens to Shunith in the happy ending, although more like she vanishes into Shub instead of what happens to the MC, as an effect of his passing.

Now i understand why they named the ending "true ending" which we get after defeating shub-<removed>rath.

In the DLsite previews, it shows a fight against a pack of dogs near a lake somewhere... Where can I find them? The game makes area transitions really hard to see, so the map feels tiny. Do I need to clear the moon beast slave boat to open up more areas to go to, or am I missing a path I already have access to?

That mob/scene is from the mountain area (blue part of that scene is the sky), accessible during the Hatsur plot, so yes you need to clear the moon beast/cat friend quest.
