This 0.4 update is pretty good. The whole Episode 1 in it's entirety is pretty decent.

I haven't started this one yet, so I can't compare them against each other. But imo, Alive was great, very underrated and extremely enjoyable. I did multiple playthroughs with a top notch cast of LIs. It's the reason I put this on my watch list to get to when I can.

it is decent, but quite a bit shorter overall (playing the different LI routes can stretch that out)
So weird seeing people talk about the new update and its not even leaked. I guess I should say - thanks for the sub!
I'd consider 0.4 a great starting point personally - because it represents the end of episode 1. Essentially the entire story is broken up into 3 episodes, and 0.4 is the end of the EP1 arc. Chapter 5 will represent the beginning of EP2.
Personally I consider up to the end of chapter 4 as the "Introduction" period of the game - by the end of it, most people should have a good sense if it's a game they might enjoy or not. We'll get into what I consider the "meat" of the game in Episode 2. Hopefully it works out as well as I've planned!

Excellent update. Great writing that's a fun easy read.
Characters are believable. Nice branching. Good length.
The world created is immersive and believable.
Choices matter and you can play the MC as a nice guy or douche.
Alive is one of the better completed VNs that I've played, and this is much better.

When MC is in his room and Mia sends a text, the picture doesn't work properly. Just black.

How do you activate the Paisley path?
Figured this one out.
You can't be on Clara or Jenn's path.
Don't turn down Lauren when Jenn can catch you, and that will end Jenn's path.
Anna also has to win the scavenger hunt.
How do you activate the Candice and Mira path?
EDIT: You can also avoid Jenn's path by not having enough positive points with her.
That way you can still reject Lauren.

I am shocked you figured that out so quickly. It's one of the (intentionally) more convoluted paths. (There are a number of paths that are intentionally difficult to get on or stay on. Some are easy, but others have fairly strict requirements, because they're meant to.)
I'll just tell you the candice/mira thing though, since honestly that isn't one I'm trying to protect. (Some I am - and I'm being extremely vague, and if ppl figure them out, well then good for you. But this one isn't one of those).
Do not be on Clara's path #1. You must have attended art class, and you can *not* be on Mia's path. You also can NOT have a high alignment value. (Certain choices in the game affect your alignment value - it's complicated, but the basic rule is "negative" or "impulsive" choices lower it, and "positive" or "less impulsive" ones raise it). Too high an alignment (Which is the result of consistent positive choices or choices that reject impulsive decisions) and you will automatically be removed from the path. An extremely low alignment results in you automatically pursuing their path, and a more centered one gives you a choice. An indication you are on the correct path, in CH3 you would see a scene where the 2 of them are watching TV and Candice approaches you. If you see that scene, don't have too high alignment, and are not on clara or Mia's path, you are eligible for theirs later on.
Edit: I won't be answering many questions on this thread (The candice/mira thing is one of the very *very* few I'm willing to address at all) - but i keep an eye out for bug reports. The fixes likely won't be added here, but I will keep note of them so they can be addressed.

I like that you can be on a lot of paths at once, but also that there are some exclusive.
It's the right balance of content rich playthroughs and replayability. Good stuff.
I look forward to the thrill of the eventual drama of MC and the LIs having conflict, because of the MC being a player.

LaikDink no longer works on mods, so no multimod until someone else takes over.

The sign is Jason will ask "you wanna fuck paisley?" on a freeroam
Alice can win Scav Hunt, doesn't have to be Anna
Can turn down Lauren too, yeah
Anna losing Scav Hunt is funnier

If Alice wins, as far as I can tell, it puts you on Anna's path rather than Paisley's.
With Alice winning, Jason still asks that question, but Paisley asks you to be with Anna, not her at the dorm.
Too early to tell how intertwined their paths are.
Possibly another method to get on Paisley's path, is to keep rejecting Lauren.
She did mention how much that means to her in texts and conversation.
