Someone correct me if I am wrong because I can't check now, but isn't this still listed on Steam?

Obviously dev has no obligation to communicate shit here. And since they are pausing payments on Patreon, they can ignore that side too.

But if people can still purchase it on Steam, it is a problem. Steam is a marketplace, not the vague support pledge Patreon is. People paying for early access for a game they assume is in active development, obviously wouldn't have if they had strong evidence it wasn't. I think it's the reason Steam is rolling out its own version of "abandoned" for EA games.

And it's why this tag is needed here too, this site being the most prominent platform for promoting these games. It's a warning to new people who might want to spend money.
It's in Early Access on Steam, which means pretty much nothing, as over half the adult Early Access games on Steam never get finished. Unless the Dev comes out and says he's not finishing it, they will leave the page up for years. Above the Clouds in still in EA on Steam and it's been abandoned for quite some time.

I have no problem with the abandoned tag or it being applied here. The point I was making is that there is no connection between it and the development of the game. It is arbitrary in the sense that it does not indicate a formal action taken by the developer.

The difference between this game the day before the abandoned tag was applied and the day after it was applied with respect to the likelihood that it is still being developed is a day. Nothing has changed.
To be fair, the abandoned tag here is earned by the best practices of the biggest pirate AVN site seeing many games be abandoned over the years. Yes, it is not official, but it is a very good indicator that there is at least problems with the development.

Yes, Steam doesn't delist, I know that. I was wondering if dev still had it up.

Steam recently announced they will put up a warning for EA that haven't been updated for a year. Practically warning "if you buy this, don't blame us for getting scammed".

Which is synonymous with "We allow scammers to use our platform, and keep some of the scammed money for ourselves".

Valve is slowly allowing Steam to slide into a cesspool of questionable business practices, with zero quality control over products. It's eventually going to bite them in the ass.

Who's going to define what's a completed game? If they start breaking down on early access games, devs will just revert to releasing half baked games and add a shitty ending.

Early access is a tag that means very little, plenty of games abandoned in early access are still worth playing and worth buying. This game has more content than half the "completed" VNs on here, the only thing it really lacks is an ending.

True. It brings to mind a game on Steam I just reported to Valve for being tagged "released" (not in EA anymore), but where the developer admitted it was not, promised to finish it, and ~2 years later it is *still* unfinished. And now he's trying to release paid DLC for the same game.

Scummy practices out there are starting to run rampant. Gotta be really careful who you give money to anymore. If you follow a game closely for multiple years, you can generally pick up on which are worthwhile.

Such devs you describe are a blight on any type of game, regardless of genre! As you said, being careful and keep an eye on it first, you rarely will go wrong. I have bought EA games on Steam and to date I was lucky, for instance "Startraders" I got cheaply during early access and it turned out to be great! But I also had 2 games on my wishlist I kicked off it once it became clear the devs stopped and will never complete them.

Anyone recommend something similar to the masculine cheating Kim path where you're banging her behind Pete's back and both mocking him? Basically some good Netori. Was my favorite part of this game.

If you take money every months, you have the moral duty to post at least once a month to inform patrons imo. But in this case, since he doesn't take money for a while, he's entitled to stop any day. The common decency would be to inform the audience if you definitely stop to develop the game though.
His patreon is paused as far as I know. Still, if nothing serious is going on, a small post about what is going on (or not) should not be the hardest thing to do.

On Steam last message is from November. Where he is saying that he is hoping to get new update in January/February 2025.

This is really unfortunate, this game had potential and has some very interesting characters. Lots of well made scenes with fitting music and dialogue too. It's sad that it might be abandoned. Let's see if the dev proves us wrong. Let's hope so.
