I recommend to be sad, but not pissed off. We get this stuff here for free and he stopped billing patreon. If he stops his hobby, try no to be angry.I mean... if he came back with updates, everyone would not be pissed off anymore.
Sorry, not me. I didn't get it for free. And many people have been discussing back and forth about this, so let's not get into that type of reasoning anymore, mate...I recommend to be sad, but not pissed off. Not really, I think the ratio of abandoned games hasn't changed, and honestly I don't think a game taking years to be finished is unusual If you want a bit of quality rendering takes time specially since this is a side job for most developers who cannot afford this to become their main source of income.I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like a lot of games are getting abandonned recently, or take years, and years to be finished. Is there an explanation for that ?
The games that don't pull in enough income for the author to justify continuing with, usually get abandoned. That is unless it's their hobby and they have a job that supports them normally.I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like a lot of games are getting abandonned recently, or take years, and years to be finished. Is there an explanation for that ?
First comment on the thread and he totally saw it coming. lolNothing is Forever,
It's an Ominus title for a VN game
However looks promising, so let's give it a go.
Much success
MrSilverLust
If the game doesn't make money, it's alot of time and work(and money if you're using DAZ models) for nothing but empty praise from randos who stole your stuff.I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like a lot of games are getting abandonned recently, or take years, and years to be finished. Is there an explanation for that ?
Who knows. All we can do is cope.Does this mean it is not dead?
I'm not a fan of the one that's being worked on now either. This game was truly superior in every way.A game with great writing - abandoned to make AI slop...![]()
Im always confused about these kind of games anyway, who wants to play a bad or at max average card game just because there are some tittiesI'm not a fan of the one that's being worked on now either. This game was truly superior in every way.
Well, my understanding of the back story is this:Im always confused about these kind of games anyway, who wants to play a bad or at max average card game just because there are some titties
In that case just play a good card game.
Dont get the dev either, its like downgrading your product for no reason at all. Like he woke up and thought "Hmm i think i want to become a worse dev! That would be awesome!"
I mean yeah, Slay the Spire IS awesome, the thing is you dont create anything comparable to it as a little side project, you will either have to dive in really deep and make it creative and complex which is not easy to create (and probably not really what most adult fans here are looking for) or you will create a kinda cheap garbage card game really nobody needsWell, my understanding of the back story is this:
MrSilverLust was (and probably still is) a big fan of Slay the Spire. After he released chapter 6, he was feeling like he needed a break from NIF. So he decided to try making a card battle style game as small side project for fun, and also experiment with the new AI tools to learn more about them. After he got the minimum version done and released it (for free) he went back and did another two releases of NIF, chapter 7 part 1 and 2, and then a released a minor update for DIL in Sept'24. After that we have not really heard anything more about either game.
So It's not as though this small side project is the specific reason that NIF has not had a release for ~10 months. Nor is MrSL currently publicly working on Decked In Love now - he seems to have just gone to ground completely.
I honestly hope MrSL is not having troubles in the "real world", and this hiatus is just "normal" burnout from putting so much of his energy in NIF for 3 years straight. I'm grateful for the change to work with hin, and I'm sad that we can't see the continuation or conclusion, but ... that's just the way it goes.
