Has the author ever considered that the people on Discord asking him to rest might be trying to make him lose his players? To make his games no longer receive attention? To make players no longer pay attention to his future works? Because when a person loses the trust of others, no one will believe him no matter what he says or does in the future.

my only complain with all of this is that it's an AI game, this isnt an indie dev making models, art, animations from the scratch the ideas and the way the game plays out are really cool but in the end he just writes some prompts and there's the art

don't downplay what nosy is doing man, there's still a lot of work that goes into getting the AI to make pics you want and need for your story plus the actual story itself and him trying to add a lot of different other things to work around the story.

I'm just saying that if the game had a real artist it would instantly be top 3 in its genre, a lot of people just ignore AI games so he would be getting more attention with an artist doing the scenes

in this particular case and dev, it is normal. at least the delay are always "short".
You do realize that "delay" and "normal" should not coexist ? Delay should be exceptional... if you have delay at every update then you should probably rethink your way of doing things.... i am not criticizing, just stating facts. I would prefer an honest dev telling us there is no constant date but i suppose it would bring less subs.... still not right in my book :)

For all those saying the dev is milking you... Don't pay then.

He's an indie dev not a studio so you cannot have the same expectations for both (about quality, speed and planning : he delivers for the quality, so cut him some slack for the rest). We all get to play the game, without paying for those who can't, that alone justify waiting a bit. We're all frustrated that the update don't come sooner, but a late decent update will always be better than an half-cooked release...

And that tells a lot about how good the game is if a delay like this is enough to drive people mad, that's a sign on how hooked people are for the game, so gg dev and keep up the good work.
The problem is that he is the one setting the expectations. If you keep saying, "it'll be out this tomorrow", "within 24 hours", etc, and you keep missing your own self-imposed deadlines, you're just setting yourself up for failure. If he'd posted last week going "Crap, I playtested this version and it's not living up to my standards. I want to get it out as soon as possible but I think I'll need another week", I'm sure people would be a lot more patient with him. Instead, he repeatedly overpromises and underdelivers, which is a surefire way of disappointing people.

And sure, you can say he's an indie dev and that he can't be held to the same standards, but that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to point out that his poor communication is causing him to lose subscribers.

these missed deadlines is probably why might better for devs to give an estimate when it will be out, rather than a hard deadline. "out in about 2 weeks" gives more leeway for unforeseen difficulties instead of "out by Month-Day" or "out in 3 days."

or might be better still, only make the deadline when the thing is already done. like say you'll drop the update in a week but you already finished it 3 days ago.

The reason why people are this angry is because it has been 2months since the last plus the fact the many consider it to filler a update has nosy had sayed before but no it isn't after coming from vacation changed his mind and know it is going to be a set-up for camping event part2 next when nosy sayed that update is going to be in 24 hours people had gotten exited then a delay and then a delay with no est it just broke there Patient. Plus people hearing about discord how they are it made many even more angry. But o well one thing is for sure that games popularity is going to drop if it doesn't update this month.

Unfortunately, it's real hard to defend him on this point.

As a dev myself, I know that unexpected bugs and throwbacks are daily occurences and we have to take it into consideration while estimating the time needed for our projects. What the dev should learn from this is : if he already takes this into consideration, give more time to your bug-fixing estimation, and if not start doing it. You will only have more coherent deadlines and even good surprises when everything goes your way.

Based on some of the comments above, do I get it right that if some subscribers complain and criticize smth on his Discord they might get banned and thus basically scammed for money by having something they paid for being taken from them?

Pretty sure tons were unhappy before last update and then he dropped an update with 100 photos (when normal was like 40s) and everyone here was like "omg thats crazy, i didnt expect this much new stuff" or the haters went quiet and stopped complaining about the delay he had last time.

This one has been teased to be even bigger recently (by accident cuz he went overboard making this update better), so cant wait to see a repeat lol

All sorts of critique and backlash from the community can be avoided if the dev just pauses his Patreon billing like any decent creator. Yet, none of them seem to do it. Hmmm... it's almost like they're all milking.
