I have to break with the crowd and say that that is how it should be.
At the end of the day it's just a game; an AI NTR phone game at that.
Are delays annoying? Sure. But even if you're throwing money at the guy, if it bothers you just cancel the subscription or unwatch the thread and let something else distract your mind. It pales in significance to someone's health.
If it takes him a year, all it will really mean for us is maybe two years down the line we rediscover a game.
If he burns out all that really means for us is loss of an enjoyable distraction; we have others.
People need to step back and chill.
Looks like the worst happened. He wanted to put to many things into the game (literally last updates were delayed because of the new game mechanics as far as i remember) and this time it broke the game. Its already 3 months. Its way too much for a game that use AI pictures. He had a good release ratio 1 month - 1 update that let people remember what the story was about. But now, personally, after 3 months, i have no idea what was in the last update.. Some developers are too lazy to make an update. This one is just too ambitious.. The question is. Was that "new game mechanic" that broke his game, was worth delaying it so much? I'm 99% sure it wasnt.. And im 100% sure that there will be a lot of people complaining for not enough sex content

Honestly, it’s not looking good. At this point this game could turn into 20~30 minutes content of play (for each update) and update cycle of every 6 months (or year).
The unfortunate truth is that the purpose of a good product manager in a company is to be able to come in and tell the devs when they're letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Someone needs to be able to say 'yeah no, that's feature creep. fix what you got and release next week.'
This can easily mean releasing a busted prouct, but sometimes it means actually... you know... releasing a product at all.

Come to think of it, 12 updates a year comes to about 1 a month. Depends on the definition of what an "update" is, whether big or small. Plus, sometimes, the time between updates is long or short.

If you don't enjoy doing it, you'll eventually stop doing it.
If you don't take care of your health, you're liable to just drop randomly and definitely not produce any more.
You can find any number of examples of dropped games for the first, though granted for the latter the examples I can give would be more mangaka. Their work schedules often end up giving them health problems.
Otherwise yes I agree that things don't need to be perfect, especially because a dev can later update the system with a new update anyway.
Small teams / solo devs have the problem that there are lots of roles that need to be played and rarely is someone excellent in all of them.
The watch words really should be "Make it good enough now, make it great in post."
