Would any connoisseur here kindly educate me on the differences between "japanese" NTR and "western" NTR? Is it alluding to just the pop-culture elements found within the story's settings, or is there some kind of idiosyncratic literary flair pertaining to each? Is it their characteristic affinity for particular plotlines as well? Or is it merely just artstyle?
I want to say i feel like there is something different in the way each portrays NTR (Netorare to be more specific), but tbh i can't put a finger on it. Just like how i feel like manhwa authors write NTR differently than what is usually found among authors of RenPy VNs & RPGM games. As if they understood the concept of NTR, and the socio-psychological nuances surrounding it, differently.
JP netorare : girl is taken away from the mc, either with him knowing or not (but the reader/player knows or suspects it seeing the pieces of evidence). Can feature corruption, noncon, and be varied on the nature of the person taken away (childhood friend, sister, mother, wife, fiancée, etc).
Western cuckold : almost always married couple, almost always super consensual, almost always cuck play where the couple have some kind of open marriage. The girl is mostly corrupted or open to the idea from the get go. It's more akin to netorase than netorare if you want to find an equivalent.
Chinese "green hat" (aka the way they call ntr) stories are kind the same as Japanese ones, with the mc discovering the truth more often than the JP stories I'd say, and of course using Chinese classical settings like xianxia, or go modern with business or school settings. And a LOT of mom ntr for some reason.
Koreans no idea, it's too hard to find adult text works in that language and I'm not interested in manhwa. And they make no adult games either.
