For me nebel failed at establishing the heroine. I just couldnt see her as a person. Way too short of an interaction before stuff starts happening and her personality was bland.
The dev of Nebel at one point even points out that a NTR situation is absurd. It happens when you go watch a movie with Kana and later she comments that she can't believe the girl in the movie confided more in the villain of the story rather than the hero, something like that.
But that just points out that the dev was entirely aware that NTR games shouldn't be entirely based on reasonable choices.

Your post accurately pinpointed my opinion of Nebel. I love this game but it definitely lacked a lot of explanatiion or direction. Trying to figure out how to progress plot and get to true ending is really frustrating. Gameplay wise I loved it except grind and seal combat(I ended up just using MCs AOE attack that uses up all mana through all game). It's fairly difficult and pretty good for NTR feeling imo but once you fully know how every mechanic works it gets much easier. This game really scratched my itch for difficult avoidable NTR gameplay.
Yes, I completely respect the reception others have given Nebel, because everyone plays differently or with different goals.
In my case, I loved it because I like to play with a chill plausible style, without forcing the game in a specific direction. In Nebel, I saw that the protagonist cares about Kana, so I played with that in mind. I was surprised by some of Kana's interactions; but, for me, her corruption was gradual and she doesn't fall easily unless the player wants her to.
Another thing that fascinated me about Nebel was the possibility of playing as if the days were real living normal days, doing whatever you want as long as you work or leave work early. This creates a feeling that the game is its own universe and, as the days are quite random, it feels like a real day, not a predefined and rigid one. It's true that some days are important to the plot, but in general, you can play Nebel and the days will always be quite random and will unfold according to your play style, without being truly forced.

I have truly tried to look out for other games similar to Nebel, but it's so hard. For me it was a masterpiece. I have played City of Corpses, which is pretty good and even the dev says he was motivated by Nebel. But hardly other games can recreate that feeling of Nebel where you can play as you want and the days doesn't feel like scripted ones.

Huh? Why wouldnt I be able to see how someone else enjoys something? Of course they can. Its their subjective view, they can enjoy eating shit. What does that have to do with anything? And of course you wont agree with me if you dont feel like I am correct, thats why I said you need to sell your subjective point of view. Thats all any discussion is. Yeah there might exist objective factors, but you can never quantify them there and therefore they are hypothetical. Any attempt at finding them will end up with a subjective result. I feel like this is steering way too far from ntr so I will end it here...
knowing that they can is different than understanding how they can. And while I can’t understand why someone likes eating shit, I can understand why someone likes Candy Crush when I don’t enjoy it myself. That’s why I say you can look at a game objectively, because I can too. You don’t actually have to like something to respect it, and I’ve given you more than enough examples of that.

Yeah there might exist objective factors, but you can never quantify them there and therefore they are hypothetical. Any attempt at finding them will end up with a subjective result.
That's what I mean when I said "...but also about the objective factors that make it subjectively good.". Understanding is a subjective concept, that's for sure. But in order to understand something, one definitely cannot only rely on their own subjective perspective, because that is just their perspective alone. I'm not saying you can't rely on it, but that you can't only rely on it. After all, your subjective perspective is also partially formed from objective reality.

I feel like this is steering way too far from ntr so I will end it here...
You're right, this conversation has gotten a little too long. I'll accept that this is a draw and end it here too.

Indeed, it was quite frustrating at first isn't it. I actually gave up twice before really sat down and went for it.
In the end, we're fan of that game, and that's enough. It's not necessary for others to feel the same. :coffee:

If there's any game I'm certain will be highly acclaimed this year, it would definitely be Fallen Priestess. Although you could say this game is much more ambitious than Nebel, its development process has been decidedly smoother.

As of now, BBQ has started releasing and almost certainly won't face any more delays. Perhaps not every aspect of the game will meet my expectations, but its level of polish will certainly be much higher than Nebel—my #1 NTRPG—by a lot.
I have intentionally avoided the demo for this, are there any voyeuristic/secret sex elements in the game?

I am wondering what type of ntr would be 100% reasonable choice. I guess something that just makes sense - its more important than sex? Simplifying: "fuck me or the world will end".

Though then I guess the ntr isnt really fun, because there if it makes sense, there isnt really much betrayal.

Overall, what is peoples favorite type of "trigger"? If its just heroine being a slut, I usually see people complaining that she fell too easily. If its blackmail, it is usually accompanied by complaining about heroine being dumb etc. If its through lies, its dumb again. If its hypnosis, its cheap. Personally I feel like some form of coercion (be it solving couples issues for sex, blackmail, threatening etc) that usually develops into actually liking the act is usually the best way. You then have the disgust toward villain, struggle and eventual corruption. Its pretty satisfying imo. But it doesnt feel "perfect".

I also kinda like hangovercats use of corruption. Where its coercion combined with games. So you have the aspect of the heroine overestimating herself, or her partner that leads to the acts. You dont just have the blackmail by itself, but its a risk and reward game that she ends up losing. Rules get established in their twisted game. It also makes things fresh from other classic corruption schticks.

To be honest, I prefer these over a heroine being way too willing, as it makes it feel closer to straight up cheating than "NTR". As much as people here in this thread despise these, I actually prefer these being the premise. Though, I have not played(or completed) as much NTR eroge because I easily get turned off by certain elements such as: art, pink option, or heroine just randomly whoring out.
I care more about the execution and gameplay.

I think Nuko Majin's new game in development has a high potential even when it has some form of 'hypnosis'. It's just not the type of hypnosis that people usually are angry about. Since it is in a form of magical contract of some sort. I just hope Nuko won't drop the ball....

Personally I feel like some form of coercion
This is what I prefer. I feel like some form of coercion is needed for me to sell the heroine being as unwilling as possible.

- not unwilling
- not a slut
- implicit coercion

e.g.
- friendship. helps her female friend with her sex life with bf, they do ffm on him, gradually starts to like it
- grand responsibility. need to purge the sins from the afflicted males
- insecurity. want more experience to satisfy mc (already used by some titles)
- insecurity #2. need to get pregnant and have a child because one of you said they get tighter afterwards
- simply fall for the other guy. some accident/lucky sukebe happen with the guy, she starts feeling the tingles
- trauma recovery. need to dip toes into many guys so she can 'feel' again before doing it with mc (selfish, but passble reason since she already has mental issues)
- revenge that backfires. aims to break the heart of mc's bully by toying with him, but she got got instead

thats on top of my head

The irony is that people are mostly foolish and constantly do foolish things - everyone has a few such stories. A scenario like "either you do what I say or I’ll call your parents to school" is actually quite realistic, and that's what makes it amusing. Someone once said, "never underestimate your opponent," but I say, "never overestimate people."

As for blackmail after r**e, that's an even more realistic situation - the psychology of victims of such events is very complex, and it's naive to judge it from a purely rational perspective. Some develop sexual deviations as a result, and hypersexuality is one of the symptoms of such deviation (for example, nymphomania).

In my country's history, there was a serial killer who had a sister - their father had abused her repeatedly before she even reached puberty. As a result, these horrific experiences caused serious psychological damage, and by the age of 14 she was already working as a "secretary" for certain officials and businessmen.

So, those "dumb" situations in games are actually quite realistic. And when you really think about it - it becomes terrifying.
