My birthday is tomorrow, and my birthday present to myself is going to be to unwatch this thread again, hopefully for as long as I possibly can. And no, it's not because I hate reviews completely, because there was a dude who gave me three stars and I totally respected what he had to say. He made good points and objectively didn't like the game. That's fine with me. But when you just go spew a bunch of nonsense that's not true, and we'll see if the mod's do anything about it, I don't know I hope they will. But, I'm not holding out much. That shit is just hard to stomach. But, if I wasn't here I wouldn't see it and I wouldn't care and it wouldn't matter. Again, that's why a lot of devs don't come on here anymore. You have no idea how many people have told me to get off this site completely. Other developers. That I should shit can my mods and walk throughs so I don't have to come on here at all. But, I keep refusing to do that, so I have to deal with this bullshit.

There will always be trolls and morons. Usually the former is also the latter.
Right, but unfortunately for the cool people like you. I have the choice to not be on here and have to deal with them. Which I've been urged to do countless times, but I keep coming back anyway. So, I guess that kinda makes me a moron too! LOL I just showed the review to another dev and they were like "how many times have I told you to leave the place, I've been much happier since I did creatively". I won't mention their name but they used to be super active on this site, and have more than one completed games.

I've given bad reviews, but only for actually bad games or ones that withhold sex in game for like a year+ or in some cases SEVERAL years. Apparently giving a bad review to CERTAIN games is against the rules for some reason. TBH anything that blueballs like that IS a bad game. This had it plenty and fairly early and STILL had a really good story. Some people have that black and white thinking fallacy that its either no story and just like the game equivalent of a modern porn movie or it's a really good story with no sex for years.

That's an objective thing you don't like. Which is fine and you should review accordingly. What pisses me off is this person's review was just total nonsense and even had questions in it showing he hardly played the game. Also the few objective things he didn't like about it were stated to be in the game if he would have read the overview!

Right, he based half of it on he didn't like the description of the game and only played a small part as it's way off. If he thinks it makes heroin use look positive he might have just clicked through a small part. And if he thinks Lydia is unattractive I just don't know.

Hold up everyone, we got us another profile hider (the last reviewer), so that explains a lot! Like I said hopefully the mods sort it out, because it's pretty on the nose that review is a troll of some sort, and even if it's not it's still inappropriate and inaccurate factually for the most part. I'm still gonna try to take a little break though. Need some time to smell the roses! Probably some of my own farts mixed in as well! :)

It needs to be heartbreaking to work so hard in something only to see people trash it without reason, we are very good at seing the hair in the middle of a tasty soup, and the overwhelming mayority of the reviews is positive, mostly because this is an amazing game, that treats with respect and seriousness mature topics, you can ignore the morons when you are at your best, but when you are at a low there will always be a stupid coment prepared to hunt you, good luck Dev, and I hope you had a happy birthday.

P.D: As a side note, I dont remember ever reviewing a game and I have been in this site for years, can somebody tell me where do I need to click to do it? I cant find the option for some reason.

On the first page of this thread, look to the right of the tags and you will see a series of stars followed by the number of people who have reviewed the game. Click on the star which reflects your rating and you will be presented a screen where you can give your review.

In case you come back anytime soon, wanted you to know that your game was a strong incentive to find recovery myself. I'm not a substance abuser, i'm one of those Al-anons. The people who enable and control addicts. Understanding the life helped me realize that I needed help when the moment came where I achieved that 'gift of desperation' that caused me to seek recovery and make contact with my HP. 2+ years in now, and my life is so much better than before.

I did note very little evidence of the negative influence of enablers like me. We don't deserve being spared our impact on the situation. We didn't cause it, can't control it and can't cure it, but we sure can make it worse.

I don't post much but when I seen you disheartened by some comments I felt compelled to. Just finished your game and honestly adored it.
It's outside the norm and I loved the raw take on that life. That life will take a pure soul, darken it, make you do unspeakable crap and have you questioning who you are anymore.

Although I do wish the MC wasn't such a constant dick to my lady ;)

Anyway loved your game, hope you continue with it and look forward to your other projects.

She gives as good as she gets if you mean Lydia. That's part of their love language. Hope I've said that enough throughout the course of the game.

What's that up top? Just a quick check in!

As you can see we have the banner for the next game, and there will also be a new main menu soon! How cool is that!?

These are of course my images, but I have to give credit to my friend Lady Aspen for putting this together! Her GFX photoshop skills along with the other programs she uses are second to none, and I'm very grateful for her help. The depth of her knowledge is something that's not needed to produce quality game images and promo's. But, for something like this it's invaluable!

Hope you guys are enjoying/enjoyed Ch. 17! I'm just writing to let you know I'll be taking my standard weekish off before I start in on Ch. 18. I debated doing the first Chapter of ODDAT: The Production, but we've just got too good of momentum going with One Day at a Time right now for me to justify it. I don't know how many more update cycles I can go through without doing it though. If I do end up making the first chapter for the new game before One Day at a Time is completed, it will be with the caveat that says "This game will not get regular updates until One Day at a Time is complete".

So, anyway, lot's of things spinning around in old dudder's head (if you haven't seen the Big Lebowski do it now)! But, for now it's on to Ch. 18! The first dev update will be on Wed. June 12th!
As always, hope you are all doing well, cheers!

P.S. - I'll post the new Main Menu for ODAAT: The Production as soon as I get it!

Shameless self promotion! :)

Since it's been asked several times, and I've answered it in different places. I'm going to answer it again for everyone. I have no idea how many chapters we are going to end up with in One Day at a Time, and I don't really have a better answer than that. I just don't work that way where XYZ is going to happen here before I start the beginning of the game.

I have a list of things that will happen in the next update. And I also have a list of things that need to happen before the game is completed. That's the way I outline, it gives me more room to create within that structure. I know some people are much more rigid about it, which is fine if that works for them. But, doing it this way allows me personally, to be much more spontaneous. Cheers!
