I actually do think I get it. You seem excited to work on the game again, and I'm glad for you. Previously you did the rework on the intro part of this game, and having played both the old and new, I can say it was a big improvement. I wrote about that in this thread earlier.This guy gets it
You also mentioned reworking some of the free roaming parts, and fixing issues with dialogue not being available based on the location. That's hard stuff, boring, but necessary work. I'm glad you're also doing that, it will make a better game overall. You mentioning the forty fish is a bit funny, but I'm sure that was an easy thing for you to add to the game. And that excites you and makes you happy, and ultimately productive, I hope.
I thought the original game was a bit dark, confusing, but ok. The rework was fantastic, and I'm hoping you're bring that quality into the new, with enthusiasm for all parts of the game. Sometimes to the drudgery of programming, other times when adding fun art assets to a scene.
