this game is dead, it has been dead for 4 years, literal babies who've been born at the time this game's been abandoned could tell you right now that you're being silly

every goddamn time this game turns up in my notifications I'm like, oh yeah, that was the most promising game I've ever played, goddamn acting lessons got a better ending then this!, fucking STOP bringing this thread up from the abyss, yes there are no other games out there likes this, but there are games out there that come close, and those games have endings or at least they will have, please, let this post be the end

I used to think the same, but although sometimes the Abandoned tag is issued too quickly, here it is what it is.

However, everytime people respond to the thread, it does pop up at the top and may get new players trying it out. Which I think is a good thing, because this game is just that good, even in it's current unfinished state.

Where do you think this game would go with the story should CedSense be back?

what I hope is someone will eventually continue the game
or do a remake out of it. even using HS is good if just following the same narrative and good writing.
this game is about that, good writing so it need to have that, the rendering quality is secondary.
but is it possible?
not sure, it will never be like CedSense wrote it and how he planned to end it. thats impossible.
but we could still get a good writer that can make it as good but with his own interpretation and style.
because I think the chances that CedSense returns is close to zero. so only a new writer/dev.

honestly, I've removed games of my watched list before (also I don't think that'll work anyway since I've posted here before) but I can't with this one, it just feels so final

the (ex-)girlfriend would put the house on fire and you can save either the daughter or her friend

honestly wouldn't know, I tried making predictions while the game was being updated but it always ended up going different (and a lot of times for the better)

Sorry to disappoint, but it's not. A developer V19XX tried to remake it a while ago but Ced emerged from the ashes to put a stop to it, and then disappeared again. That developer is working on an equally good game though IMO called Lost at Birth

well Lost at Birth will be what this game minus the sharing dark path.
so its similar to this game but only the "play good father" or "incest father", while the dark paths are not there.
not sure why Ced needed to stop it, but he did and that for me is very selfish, but thats how people are, selfish.
that is why I think the DEV that would remake this need to be selfish as well and not care about Ced at all.
just make a similar game, using similar assets. but we need a DEV for that.

That is why I have a good idea of why Ced cannot update the game, can login to say “no”, and will be back in a year.

This was one of my favorites here, and is also one of the reasons I refuse to back unfinished projects.

Reading the last page of this thread, the dev even stopped someone who tried to continue the story, then vanished again. They either care enough to protect their IP, or want this game to be completely forgotten.

Either way, I'm glad I chose to wait instead of backing it during development.

It's a great story . . . until it stops. If you don't want to play something that won't ever get finished, it's ofc understandable. I'm still really glad I played it despite its fate.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I genuinely enjoyed the story up until it was abandoned. Really disappointed it was never finished.

I think it's unfortunate, but I definitely wouldn't call "ridiculous". After all, imagine you were a writer or a filmmaker and you have some real-life, legitimate reason for having to halt your progress. Let's say 3 years down the road suddenly you find out someone has snagged your work and is in the process of hijacking it. Would you really be OK with someone effectively stealing from you just because fans have been wanting more?

I'm not defending CedSense; I have no idea what's going on in his real life. I'm not saying I don't understand the desire to see this game continue. I also would love to see this continue; it's one of the early games I played and I miss the hell out of it. But I don't think fans' desires should ever justify thievery of a creator's work. I don't think there is any circumstance under which that is justified. I would hope a creator is open to letting someone else carry on if they aren't able to, but I would never be OK with someone robbing an artist of their creation. That just feels morally abhorrent to me.

Honestly though, when I see a game abandoned I often assume that the dev decided he didn't want to keep spending more of his God given time on Earth making a smutty VN... I always imagine they had a moment of lucidity one day and decided to turn their life around lol... I mean, from the narrowly focused perspective of this community all we care about is the new update to a game we like, but from a real life perspective, if you're able to turn your life in a good direction, and get a nice girl, the motivation to keep creating/consuming 3D character stories vanishes because, now you're living a VN of your own...

I imagine this is how it might go for some devs who abandon games:
- you start making this game
- you get some fans and recognition and praise
- you spend time working hard on it, you have a goal, a purpose, and you're getting better at this skill every day (we all know how renders get better over time)
- you get more recognition, more praise and fans
- you realise you're successful and good at something
- you become more confident as a person
- you realise that you could be spending this potential elsewhere, to actually do something more dignified (not judging but it is what it is)
- you use that confidence you've built knowing you're capable of making something if you put your mind to it, and you direct it to the rest of your life
- your life gets better
- you find a girl who's into you and likes your aura of confidence
- you cannot tell her you're making a smutty game, nor do you have much motivation anymore now that you're in a different position in life
- the motivation to live this new life is now much greater than the motivation to living out this imaginary 3D life
- you abandon the game and the community
- you're disgusted by it at this point so you don't even explain why you abandoned it because you think the coomers would never get it

I'm interested in what everyone else thinks of this... Einstein had his theory of relativity and I have my theory of abandoned VNs

I think you're onto something here...nearly every VN created has most people wondering if the Dev has ever had an interaction beyond saying "hi" to the opposite sex, and things like being an Alpha male, seduction and betrayal go only as far as articles the Dev has read online.
The porn fear is real, but it shouldn't be...women are perverts just like men, more so in many cases...plus porn is THE most profitable business venture in the world...no other business can make as much money as porn with little to no "education". Not to mention, porn is so mainstream these days, if you're making money from it, nobody would care.
