Aren't you able to contact him again to understand the situation, why he's dead-silent after all these years? I just checked and his Patreon is still active (just 6 paying members). If he's alive he should at least have stopped his Patreon charge and publish a news about the "on hold" status of the VN. Or more appropriately, the abandoned status since it has been years without updates.
If he abandoned he could release some asset information so people could create fan art or new stories with the same looking characters. How would that hurt his dead product? It would be just free promotion.

It's an almost 8yo AVN, so it's quite possible the assets like the model for the daughter aren't even in the Daz store anymore (it's prob Gen 3). And even if it were depending on the morphs used she might not even be recognizable anymore from what was sold, so figuring out what was originally done by trial and error would be tedious as fuck and probably still not an exact match, just reasonably close. And that's just one model, not the probably hundreds of other things to deal with. Reverse enginnering a dead AVN and continuing it just isn't worth it to most, there's far better/and potentially more lucrative fool's errands to work on like reverse engineering Microsoft Windows (ReactOS still not even an alpha after 20+ years).

I figured out the dev's real name. Not very hard. I am just surprised that he has not returned yet.

I'm pretty sure that someone started a project as a continuation on this and then abandoned or never released it.

I think part of it was also that the original developer was very adamant that he wants to get back to this and explicitly stated that he does not want anyone working or this or use his IP.

Fans of the game kinda respect his wishes.

This game was in my sig for a very long time when I started out here. So I was obviously a big fan.

I understand a remake is out of the question in order to respect the wishes of the dev, which I'm cool with but it would be cool to see a brand new game inspired by this one.

I think the dev had a lot of really great ideas in this and it's a shame to see them not come to fruition. This game was a great and rare experience for me, there's not really a lot of games similar to this one or at least not that I am aware of.

I can make a brand new game (prequel or alternate universe) and keep the story as engaging as this one did. Let me know.

There was a Dev who tried to continue. But he was given a cease and desist from this Dev. Then, someone made a different game in the same vein as this, I can't remember the name. But I believe that game was abandoned as well.

Honestly I have mixed feelings on that seeing how this dev never returned to this project but it is his game after all so my personal opinion really means fuck all. :ROFLMAO:

Hopefully he actually does return, this was getting really good where it cut off. I'll have to search around for the second game you mentioned it seems right up my alley, I really liked this one.

It's actually the same one. There was even an own thread on F95 for that. After the no from the orig. dev they stopped the remake/continuation, but made the new game which has some elements of Our Fate: Lost at birth

Oh yeah. Lost At Birth was the one that other Dev made. I thought it was Abandoned, though. I didn't realize it had been updated in June.
