We must stay faithful in Thomas, his return will occur, and within our lifetimes! And those who kept the faith will be rewarded with a new beta.
I've not slept in two days and I refuse to until I play this beta

As I was walking along the beach with Thomas.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to Thomas.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked Thomas about it.
"Thomas, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
While we wait, what's your OL2 mc like? Curious to know what other people do.
I generally just play as myself, had a pretty depressing childhood so this is kind of a comfort game for me due to that

I can definitely understand that
but in a way is it not hopeful?
the lack of angst would be less hopeful in a way
perhaps there are sad points, but there is light shining through that sadness and anxiety, and in the end things can work out
Specifically in Step 2, my mc is pretty much just a rebel who has like the WORST crush on Qiu but he's too much of a chicken to do anything and he's in denial so, he just treats Qiu bad. Thankfully he at least has Tamarack on his sideI'm just lurking and waiting LOLOLOL
The completionist in me tries to see every possible outcome so I have one that's shy and a goody two shoes, one who disregards the rules and is very social, and one who is just the worst and hates everyone and everything. My man mc I tried to make similar too me when I was a kid.
