I don't think that is quite right. I attempted this on a playthrough where Ian never dated Lena. And after Holly kissed Lena, Lena was determined not to get in the way of her friends. Holly too just gets over it in chapter 12 and never brings it up to Ian. Even Ian notices her change in attitude. The rest of the save then continued as a pure Holly path.
Hmm, yeah. It seems that for some odd reason the game will switch the holly route off if Lena and Ian weren't in relationship that ended up in a breakup:

You're right and varpep is right, but I only know because this is one of my primary saves: Ian and Lena date briefly and casually, but Ian gets together with Holly at her book event and Ian and Lena break up. Ian and Holly are faithful to each other, Lena starts developing her harem (Ivy, Louise, flirting with Emma and Eli) plus has a few casual side adventures with Jeremy (& Louise) and Mike. Holly is automatically attracted to Lena, and of course Lena would like to expand her harem...so they kiss. At the beach house Holly is torn, Ian is excited (for Holly and for himself), Lena is game, and the trinity follows easily. But it does depend on Ian and Lena being intimate somewhere along the way, and Lena's interest in Holly being high, otherwise Lena automatically backs off quite a bit before the beach house.Hmm, yeah.
