Well, there's nothing surprising about that, Stan's path is the path of a socially awkward guy who got a hot girl and succeeded with her by some magic, going to the gym to try get a certain girl to like you because SHE TOLD YOU SO is the ultimate simp mindset "maybe she's gonna like me more"

I guess I'm misremembering, because I don't have a real Stan path. But isn't it also possible for him to just sign up for a gym on his own? Like I have a playthrough where Lena has been nice to Stan, but never did anything that leads him on, basically none of the awkward conversations, and he signed up for a gym in that playthrough. I'm pretty sure he specifically cites self improvement and thanking Lena for her advice. I guess you could still call that simp behavior, but it seemed to come from a much more genuine place of "I want to be better, but don't really know where to start"

It doesn't seem to be the case. In my play through Lena has been neutral with Stan (never triggered his incel manifesto etc) and he's... just there, somewhere. Basically only shows up briefly for the rent-related scenes and that's it.

Not sure what would trigger it if he did this on his own, if it happened to you, but i'd guess it could be slightly higher relationship score with Lena.

I wouldn't have minded a death by snu snu ending by an amazon goddess. Also, a buff Emma would have provided a more interesting dynamic in a Perry/Emma match, considering how quirky Perry is he may have been okay with a bit of femdom

Stan's possible development is okay-ish. It could feel a bit rushed and a bit cliché, but we keep seeing stuff like this because, as consumers, we have gotten used to this trope

Would have been better if, like Holly, it had started in the early chapters? Absolutely! But he doesn't need to become the next Mr Olympic or end up with Lena to deliver the point of his good arc, if we ever get to see a Stan that comes to realize that self-care and the decision to change your bad habits can have a positive effect on your life overall, I'd dare to say that is more than enough

Lena needs to be nice to him and side with him when Louise mistreats him. If you mistreat him, he doubles down on his bad tendencies and stays an incel

Pulling the conversation away from Stan for a bit, I wonder if Louise is supposed to be a genuine LI or if she’s just the “don’t stick your dick in crazy” option for Ian that will blow up in his face.

I feel like this is the only reason this is dragging on.

For you: it SHOULDN'T help someone to seek improvement for outside reasons and everyone should somehow improve from within.

But thats an idealistic and unrealistic view on life.

A friend of mine knocked up a girl and she wanted to keep the baby. He didn't. Dude was legally obliged to deal with it though.

He ended up going back to school, worked his ass off and ended up getting a good job.

He's a good father and he's paid well now.

Did he do it because he got an inspiration from within to do the right thing? Nah. He did it because he fucked up and had to deal with it.

He improved still. He put his life in order, studied hard, got competent and got a good job that pays well as a result.

We don't live in a damn vacuum. People are constantly influenced by outside reasons to make drastic changes.

For ORS: Stan somehow working out and making changes to his life to please Lena isn't unrealistic and just because he's doing for a girl dont mean the changes won't compound into positive change in his life regardless of the outcome.

Yeah, she seems like a trap (no, not that kind of trap character) to be a bad partner for Ian to ruin his life. Since she is only available so late, Ian is almost guaranteed to already be in a relationship, so she very likely freaks out sooner or later. Its also suspicious that the relationship tag can be applied to her that quickly. For Lena and Cindy, it took 9 chapters, even much longer for Holly and Alison. Everything about her and Ian is rushed.

I'm a bit optimistic it can work though, because I keep saves with single Ian and his handling of Louise isn't that bad. If he chooses the relationship tag, it may be to soon and end in disappointment, but he can also ease her down and take it slowly with a charisma option. That option could be the equivalent of the wits option with Cindy. In both cases, he is setting healthy boundaries.

It's not unrealistic, but it doesn't mean going to the gym will change his life. He'll be healthier but he won't be a "pussy magnet", girls won't magically come to talk to him

The discussion was never about becoming a 'pussy magnet'. It was about whether working out for external validation is legitimate 'self-improvement' or not, regardless of the outcome.

And then it devolved into some stupid ass talk about bushido, fighting your demons in the gym and how to be a real man or whatever.

Man, you can't let this go and keep blowing it out of proportion. I can't even start to think how I should address your example of your RL friend and how his circumstances are not comparable to Stan in the slightest. My posts were meant to refer Stan and his scene with Lena specifically. Not meant to be some generalization on how you (don't) have to hit the gym to score.

Stans simplistic, short term mindset is that 1. He doesn't get Lena just because he doesn't hit the gym (and not because of his million other character flaws) and his conclusion is 2. Once he hits the gym, he is promised to get Lena (and all his other flaws are not accounted for anymore).

I wouldn't bat an eye if Eva continues this plotline so that he could very well get Lena with that mindset. Lena can already be in love with him for non-explained reasons. Its just shit writing, then.

Hi anyone who downloaded the new update, is there any new Cherry content? I am wondering if I should download it but after reading about Stan the last two pages I am on the fence :)
