Since the game isn't storing its images in Unity assets - it's just directories of JPGs - compressing it to half the size seems easy.
But each image is already only 300kB, and shaving that down that down by enough without ending up with a artifact-y mess seems rough...

Game was 720p and android is still 720p which is around 5.5GB but to compress below that would require deep frying all images and I don't think anyone would enjoy playing that. If you want to use less traffic - keep up with updates, they are usually not as big as current one - it just came with music/video update and new prologue.

Usually when games get this big, they are broken into multiple applications. That's a pain in the ass, but I'd rather see that happen then have shitty images-- the CGs are about as good as you are going to see in a Koi game. And if the developers are competent (and Snow/NB are) then carrying your choices between versions doesn't have to be awful.

I have had no difficulty splitting the JPEGs into multiple separate downloads. It wouldn't be wrong to split the single download into "everything else" (~800MB), and then a separate ~1GB download of only the JPEGs for each 5 chapter group.
But I also don't expect people to read that you need to download all the image packs and instead have even more people not understanding a split download than whining about a 7GB download

Yeah the android download already has to be broken up into chunks like that due to android limitations and there's at least one person daily asking for tech support because they failed to read and understand the instructions. So you're probably right that it'd hinder more people than it'd help.
Keeping up with the update patches is the best move for people with limited bandwidth, usually it's far udner 1GB this month was just an especially big update with some extra features.

Hey Devs, amazing game and work as always.
Is it possible to add in controller support for this game?
Ren'py has them by default and makes life easier for people like me who navigate VNs via controller miles away from the monitor.
While some might add, "Well it can be done via a wireless keyboard or a mouse too (and I have that)", but there are multiple instances where I jog while reading them.

was thinking more about the whole ”secret girl” joke that lasted a bunch of chapters early, cj calling jamie a fag, etc.
Not to toot my own horn too much, but in a month I put out more content for OoT than most successful games put out in a semester and I’ve been doing it for years now.
Rewriting part of the script isn’t exactly the most ball busting endeavor I could do. It would be a victory lap, not an ordeal.
Damn this game is... good but weird... I'm not sure how to categorize this... this is almost a "kinetic" novel, but it has some kind of unnecessay freeplay parts and a "combat" mini-game that just feel like they're there to satisfy the illusion of "this is a game".
I would've loved more animations, but eh, it works well as is, kinda like reading a manga I guess... it's cool.
Anyways, pretty good, pretty good...the only real complain is: why are the images low res??? It'd look sooooo much better in at least 1080p ='( nevermind I'm stupid
Oh and a personal issue, but god I fuckin hate that "chad thundercock" meme and the fact that the MC is called "chad johnson thundercock jr"... what a fuckin stupid name... I know it was probably done for the "lols", but it's not funny and it's kinda ruinning what's otherwise a legit great manga/anime story.

Where in the game are you up to? because there are choices that can precvent you from getting future scenes if you make the wrong choice. I'd also say the Chad name pays off quite well in several moments like chapter 37.
Also you must be playing an out of date version or android if it's not in 1080p. Android needs all the file size it can get but PC/Mac has been publicly in 1080p for a month now.

Then the version you're playing is in 1080p mate. The choices are rather unsuspecting in their consequences. The final choice of this current update is a prime example of it, it's likely to have very interesting consequences in some moments going forward.
The joke is supposed to be as over the top as possible, it's designed to be the most ridiculous thing in the game by far. But knowing Anon it's a bit of a trojan horse, at chapter 32 I'm sure you can understand that the identity of CJs dad is a major question and him appearing the way he does has lore implications. You probably haven't noticed since its your first playthrough but Anon is an addict when it comes to planning and foreshadowing, there's some crazy foreshadowing for chapter 37 in 2.And scenes from 29 in the opening movie that was made a year and a half before 29 came out.
