At the end of chapter 36, Leah's mother Ayu finds them in the family vacation home and compels Leah to return with her. They have a confrontation, and when Ayu threatens Victoria, Leah shouts "ill kill you." Ayu picks up a large kitchen knife, hands it to Leah. She opens her robe exposing her chest and says "my heart belongs to you and you alone. It's yours to murder." Leah has a flashback to some of her times with CJ and reflects on how he doesn't want revenge on his mother. Leah drops the knife. At that moment Carpo appears and takes control and the scene ends. Carpo then appears in CJs dreams and tells her she's taken Leah. CJ is later seen outside the house. Later in chapter 37, on the other side, presumably inside Carpo, we see the iconic image of Leah (in her other side form) holding Ayus severed head and the knife, proclaiming with glee that she did it. Because Ayu appears earlier in ch 37 and because we don't ever see a body in the house, the viewer is left to think that Leah and simply left with Ayu, both under the control of Carpo. The ambiguity about what actually happened is a neat way to mirror the fact that Jacob (and arguably Aguri) is in denial about Leah murdering Ayu. When we see 36 It seems like Leah wasn't going to kill her. But if Leah did kill her, then it must be because Carpo made her do it. But ultimately, Leah is Carpo. The whole lesson is that separating them is incorrect. So in these recent chapters Jacob doesn't bother with that distinction. Leah brutally murdered her mother, and yeah. It's fucked up. Weather he literally saw her body in the floor is unknown and ultimately unimportant.

Leah Teresa and Vickie are enemies because the goddesses have become enemies in their competition/search for Elinath aka old glory aka cros original darling aka prologue guy. Except because Vickie and Leah deeply love each other, Carpo and Khione seem to have a truce at least on earth.
