BUT then after he started showing how much he cared about everyone still and that he was still the same MC at the start of the game I really started to enjoy it because it started to feel more like his superhero costume then anything else.

I think in retrospec it was actually more of a transference where I was associating my negative feelings about him becoming such a DIK with his clothing...

So does the pacing improve then? It really feels like the pacing is a bit rough at the start with no breaks from the constant dread feelings the game is causing. Normally I'd expect a lewd scene (and/or some story ) to break things up but I haven't really seen that so far. It almost feels like pacing is being wrecked a bit in a rush to get to the introduction of the combat system but I could be speaking out of my ass

Have you tried ALT + Enter? That's toggles the Window Mode for me.

So I want to review this game but I don't think I can be fair based on the current tags (or lack of a tag). I really think this game requires the horror tag (or F95 needs to add a new tag that would make sense for Lessons In Love & this game) due to the strong negative feelings (negative seems like the wrong word.. the feelings are expected but they aren't happy feelings & they go well past the normal 'drama' that happens in most games) associated with the game once the roof scene starts.

That or the game really needs to have a warning added to the start like Lessons in Love & Secrets of Whispering Pines have. I'm all for these games that make you uncomfortable (LiL makes me want to murder the MC every time I play it haha) but I just need to know going in.

I'm not sure a horror tag would be appropriate. Think of it from the perspective of someone trying to find an actual horror game using that tag and how they'd feel if they randomly came across...this.

There sadly isn't a generic "melodrama" tag, but at the very least I try to get most of the controversial themes of OoT established in the first 15 minutes of the game so that any reader will see if the game is for them or not very quickly.

The fighting system is clearly not finished yet and confusing in the beginning but I can see kinda where it leads to. I dont see the fuss about it actually. It did not destroy the immersion or anything, if any it added something to it imo and if used correctly I would welcome it actually.
Really looking forward what the story has in store for me now. It really hooked.

Also you better not have a bitter sweet ending in store for Sarah in your (maybe) thoughts down the road for the game.
She better get a ring herself at one point. The scene after fighting Cro was too sweet for that ,)

It's a bit of a weird solution, but it feels unfair to just spring an actual video game on people after they've been following OoT as a VN for almost a whole year now.

Yeah you can see how CJ hides behind his ridiculous personality and Victoria hides behind her sunglasses.

Combat is in Ch15, the initial return arc wraps up around Ch6.

So regarding your first point I agree completely BUT in kind I'd suggest the harem tag is not currently appropriate as the the MC has only been with two girls at this point (and honestly the 2nd one still feels like cheating to me.. see below for my reasoning). They are all great friends and they have the rings to bind them together but it's been pretty explicitly stated that doesn't have to lead to lewdness.

The harem tag describes the type of story (I.E 1 male and many female love interests), not some arbitrary threshold of how many girls the MC has put his dick into by the current version number.

Also, F95 tagging policy is to tag for future tags as well. If there was ever going to be a harem, it needs the harem tag ahead of time.

Add on to that the fact that Jamie has explicitly said she won't share and that another Li is obviously in love with Victoria makes this a non-harem game (so far).

One LI being bi and one LI being hesitant in joining the harem doesn't make it not a harem. If that were true, High School DXD, Love Hina, Tenchi Muyo and To Love Ru wouldn't be harems either...despite defining the harem genre.

Regarding the combat system.. one question I have is are you going to replace some of the in story fights with the combat system at some point? I know there is story there but it really felt like there should have been more combat system usage.

That is the plan, yes. You can read some of our project updates to see more about it. TL;DR we're not adding more combat until it's more polished and fun for everyone.

As for my earlier point about cheating.. I know that Victoria stated she's okay with things within the family BUT that was a one time statement that the MC apparently just accepts as meaning anything is okay within the family.. then he goes and has this insane experience with Sarah which is way more then he has already had with Victoria. This definitely rubs me the wrong way as up till this point we've been told over and over how central Victoria has been to the MCs thoughts over the last 5 years (and even earlier). I get there is a balance between being a Thundercock and being a 'good' individual but I really think going back and adding one more explicit scene where the MC & Victoria have a one on one discussion about what's acceptable 'within the family' would be helpful in keeping the MC a likeable character.

Victoria is 100% okay with CJ doing things with Sarah (Since she, out of all the girls, has experienced how fundamentally close those two are).

The scene with CJ, Victoria and Sarah behind the school would have continued into a full blown threesome had they been in a more private situation.

It's not cheating to anyone involved.

OR the next update may include a scene with Victoria negatively reacting to how intense the MC/Sarah scene was vs. her own so maybe this all goes away but I guess we'll see

Repeatable scenes accessible by a gallery is definitely coming, whether we get sex animations depends on whether we can get our custom animations to a high enough quality. I really don't want to use stock Koikatsu animations and I'd rather have no animation than bad animation.

I'm testing the waters with sex animations but with the Ch26 scene with Sarah, it felt like it flowed better with a more traditional VN style CG + narrator set up. Looping animations seemed like they would have brought the overall tone down for a mild increase in fapability (Since narrating over a looping animation is awkward at best from a narrative perspective). That's just my initial opinion though, I'd be happy to hear your feedback on this update.

I haven't checked it out yet. I'm on a pretty messed up work schedule, which drastically reduced my time to play VN's, specially story heavy ones. But hopefully I can play it soon and get back to you. Looking forward to it.

Ahh okay now I get it. I've seen other threads where there are lists of expected tags as part of 1st post and the actual tags are very simple but I assume there is a list of tags that are pre-required (horror/incest/harem) vs only added once in game (vaginal/anal/etc sex) so people don't get all into a game then run into content they weren't expecting and get pissed?

Agreed 100%.. This game definitely feels more inline with the "My New Family" style of harem where none of the LIs involved would ever want to be with anyone else and in fact would be hurt by not being included in the end.

I'm surprised by some of the negative feedback for the small puzzle battle. I thought it really added to the moment. The situation was tense and suddenly the player is against a dangerous enemy and there's a moment of panic not knowing how to fight. It shows that the stakes are escalating. But the game basically tells players how to win so it's not that much of a puzzle.

I guess it could be simplified down to one button for the setup and another for the execution, or a skip could be added. But I'm glad it was there for my first playthrough.

A very interesting game, graphics are well done, and the setup is great. The writing is good, and the characters well portrayed. The drama was crafted very well, it's so rare to find a game where the tension isn't feeling forced and make your eyes roll, though it wasn't handled very well with the "side character" IMO, there was no room for the tension to breathe, meaning: there's the revelation->it creates the drama->1 minute later the mc talks and that character does an immediate 180.. it really feels too rushed and a missed opportunity. The game has practically no sex scenes yet (but i've not finished it yet) but nevertheless it interested me up to this point, unfortunately "this point" is the battle scene, unnecessary, boring, hard to understand (for me at least). Another critique is the mix of genre, I've got nothing against it but here is not well implemented IMO, it doesn't feel organic. The teenage drama part is well done and it's emotional, so the paranormal bit with the father felt really out of place, in my opinion it could be handled way better.
Anyway, overall it is a good product, I hope to find the will to overcome this silly combat bit and that after that the lewd part becomes more prominent.
