I am 9 hours in and still not done.... I'd estimate I have another 1/3 or 1/4 to go. This game does not have a HUGE amount of hentai scenes... they are worth it though and are all connected to the story. It is genuinly fun to play though and the story is kinda interesting and funny... extremely dark too. Also this game has really good animations.
I can recommend this and will write a full review after I am done. Especially after I had the displeasure to read Reviews like those:

Also you can pretty much skip dialogue and make it appear really fast.

This is a treasure. The combat is heavily inspired by octopath traveler and once you get used to it it is genuinly fun.

This game has a fuckload of grammar errors but it kinda adds to the charm, it's stupid and goofy.
A lot of the lewd stuff is missable though since it doesn't really give you many hints.
On the bright side it does have NG+ so you can fuck about in every area and make sure you get the sauce.

I liked the characters at the beginning, they are brimming with personality and all that stuff but the game begins to get boring very, VERY fast.

Some parts of this made me feel the developer wanted to make a normal JRPG but some guy pointed a gun at his head and said; "Make a eroge game." and so the developer decided to do it as half-assedly as possible in order to stay alive.

And take this critique at heart because I'm one of those people who actually plays eroge games for the story, I'm the type who thinks a good story complements a good eroge game.

After playing this boring mess for hours, I will never again complain about the long windedness of the Venus Blood games, at least those games knew how to make a good balance between story and H scenes.

The problem is that they are separate for the Steam version. We only get version 1.0, which can be said to be complete for all the content for the story, but there are still many differences with the original Patreon version 1.3. There are so many side quests, CGs and endings that you don't get in the Steam version. Unfortunately the price of the 1.3 Patreon version is 7x more expensive than the Steam version and is not translated into English or Japanese (Chinese only).

Truly good eroge games require a balance between the content of story and the H scenes, your opinion is fucking trash.
What you want is a JRPG, go play fucking Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, all the criticisms you mock are very valid.

Well, that could be called the complete version (in terms of story), and when I found out more from the Pixiv account, the author said she wouldn't update anything else, it looks like there won't be any DLC, but she said she was working on a sequel so it looks like there will be The Steam version only reaches 1.0 without further updates.

Wow, way to start flaming people out of nowhere. You do realize that makes your points look far less valid right?

Also, given what was mentioned about the Patreon version and the steam version, that makes the devs sound even more suspicious so you might have jumped the gun on what you said. Having to pay far more for the additional porn and even extra story is quite a scummy move if it's true.

And then add on that if you're playing for story and not porn, then that's what a normal RPG is for. And even for a normal RPG, the dialogue is pretty weak as you go further and the game is horribly unbalanced. "this is not a sex scene collector" is also one of the weakest ways to claim a game is good, on a website that focuses on hentai/porn games no less. People literally do come here for the lewds you know.

I saw potential in it at first, but it just got worse for me as I went further in.

Also pretty messed up that you have to equip something that reduces the encounter rate in order for it to be manageable. Some places really do toss you into a fight every 5 steps. And that's actually not a good thing when even easy mode can 2 shot you by sheer luck.

Nothing against a difficult game, but when "easy" can run through your HP that fast, something's probably wrong here. I honestly see no point in even setting the game on easy or normal due to that and you might as well take the exp boost, or set the game to naive difficulty so you oneshot everything.

yeah, the first time it started, it was certainly quite difficult for players, I even played the game up to chapter 6 and it was starting to get difficult and had to lower the difficulty level.

That's why after completing ending A, start game+ and try with a higher difficulty and for me it was quite fun to try and at the same time try to find every cg that I had or missed.

and what is quite disappointing for me, it seems like we don't find a character named scarlet moon before she is sex executed in the empire slum area,, that clearly shows that there are deficiencies in the character introduction, as well as the scene where sher and xu managed to escape from the empire and the poster is already on display (which we can find in the CG room) also shows the lack of clarity in the story in this version.

yeah of course, for an rpg maker game it certainly doesn't seem worth that kind of price just to get side quests and custom options
