How do I unlock these 3 scenes? It says to "Accept Hana's birthday present and then choose to hold her" but I don't have any such options. The only option to "hold her" is to basically reject the sex offer and just sleep. I did the birthday event with Hana, Mina and Ian but the only scene I got with Hana was the one in the bedroom. How do I unlock these other 3?

Hi to all!

I made the task and played several game paths from the start again, to see what we might forget/overlook when we simply play the newest update. Some observations coupled with my opinions on it.

MC: While our hero has his troubles (whistling "you got your troubles, I´ve got mine"), esp. the situation with his Mom´s past, he is not the dysfunctional wreck some players seem to see him as. You have to deliberately play Edwin towards being a fullblown a... and sadist to see such a broken character.

August: He is a gangster-pimp, who wields a wicked knife. It has been mentioned several times how good he still is with a knife. Among the PC leadership he is the most self-reflective. He openly tells us he is not a good person and he questions some of his decisions. As I mentioned in earlier posts, I think August is the only one of the old leaders who might survive a hostile takeover of PC in any kind of higher position. He sees the club as business unlike Kath and Chuck and it is highly likely Pc would not be running smoothly without him managing the day to day business.
He also has started to doubt the sanity or functional insanity of both Kath and Chuck. In the latter case grudgingly since the two have been friends for decades. We can also learn that in his heart of hearts August, a hardened mobster, is a least a bit afraid of Chuck. This is actually a bit frightening detail.
We also learn that he really loves Hana. It might have started with August just wanting a successor for the Club, but along the way he began to love her. I theorise that if we help father and daughter reconcil, it will be a big step towards the club still existing at the end of the game, in whatever form.

Chuck: While not the main antagonist for a good or neutral MC, that is Kath without doubt, I think he is the most dangerous one. Behind the facade of a jovial, old Perv lurks a darkness that might only be rivaled by Kath and one or two clubmembers. There are too many hints from very different sources to dismiss this.
Dalia, the head housegirl and probably knowing the most about the club, is very afraid of him


Sophia, our favourite amoral, ends justify the means doctor, is disgusted by Chuck and knows some of his hidden skeletons

are just 2 of the more prominent ones.
Chuck has a rivalry with Abel. He knoes quite a bit about him and Sophia. For example that they have access to black ops labs, so the stuff they do at the Club is unnecessary. But I think he underestimates the two. Chuck seems to believe that Abel is similar to himself, that he discovered "having fun" in his old days.
That might be partly true, but the two doctors have goals going well beyond this.

I like, and agree with most of your points. I don't think I agree about the MC (though I think the dev might). Just because the darkness lies unexpressed, it's still there.

I do not deny the darkness that in varying amounts is in all of us. Edwin might have a bit more than usual, but not much. A lot of his deeds, like the fisticuffs or his voyeurism are easily explainable with the death of his dad,the upheaval following it and Vicki being a single parent. Fact is that he learned to reign it in, it does not rule his life unless you deliberately steer him this way.

Kath on the otherr hand is a fullblown psychopath and sadist. While she can still mask it currently (August who knows her quite a time thinks she is slowly and finally losing it), her sadism and antisocial tendencies rule her, Kath is simply in a cushy position where she can hide it.

Nah, sorry not buying it. If a criminal truly loves his daugter/son he NEVER wants them to be a part of that kind of life if said criminal has a modicum of intelligence. It's not like he can argue that Hana would even fit the role August wants her to occuppy since all we have seen so far is that she goes along with it to make her very difficult life with her mother more bearable. She says so herself this update "You don't really get Jerrica, you don't live with it... fuck pride", she is very aware she is just being used by the "powers that be" and is the only way she can make her situation a little better. If August truly loved Hana, he would helped her without any strings attached it's not like she wouldn't deseve it anyways since for what we know she is been dealing with her mother's condition for along while and the only reason August said she didn't owe anything to her mother was because she lied about talking birth control but leaving that aside if for some reason August wants her to be a part of his life now, he should realize that the only reason would be to help her mother since it personally affects her situation. August doesn't "love" Hana, he "loves" the idea of raising a daughter because the sad sack realized that no one will mourn him when his gone at least the other 2 psycopaths have a sister they raised themselves and a dumb husband.

No problem that we see this differently. But just as information for further discussion, it was not Hana going to August, he came to her one day. As I said before, at the beginning August surely just looked for a heir, so he did not think anything about using money and telling Hana he needed a new bartender.
But in newer scenes there can be a difference depending on how we play the game. And there are small things like August having a picture of Hana in his bureau close by even at a time ingame when the relations between the two were far more strained than now.

i am going to be EXTREMELY subjective and give my OPINIONS and these are just that

i don't want the devs or people who like the other LIs to take it in the wrong way and or feel bad

i am prefacing this rn because i don't want to be trolled/flamed on like the guy who didn't like felica

my personal choice is veronica
she might come off as bitchy , abrasive and very standoffish initially but she is exactly who she says she is
she doesn't play mind games like rose does nor she weaponizes her sexuality like felicia does

lets start with her reason for being in the club the first place
she admits that her business being run down is her own fault and her stubbornness killed her marriage along with it
her circumstances are less dire than the other 2 but she is honest and upfront about it

i dislike rose because is manipulative and tries playing with the MCs head one too may times to win
is she in a BAD and DESPERATE situation ?
yes
but she is also a very good liar and a criminal too (the latest update shows that she was a scammer!)
i am pretty convinced all the affection and love that she shows the MC is performative and even if the MC helps her win the competition risking everything to help her
i am pretty sure she will sever all links once she is done with the club

next is felicia
while i don't dislike her like rose she reminds me of the character kirk lazarus from tropic thunder
she is literally a character playing the role of a hot trophy wife she is so invested in this roleplay that she changes everything about herself to keep up with this charade from giving up her name ,accent to giving up her hobby and choosing not to EVER have kids
she is dedicated to keeping this up but i am not sure how badly it would end when all this facade collapses
but that is her biggest red flag

that would be how despite complaining about her entire life is controlled by her husband she wants to control the MC more or less the same way
she doesn't actually want a lover she is looking for someone to mold them (her own words) to be her own plaything she is just ANOTHER kathy in the making
kathy too is/was married unhappily to a rich powerful man with lots of influence in the society and soon her dark urge took over her and thats why she founded the club to play with other rich and powerful people who prey on the desperate women
felicia is looking for another minion who can help her indulge in her dark vices and help her power trip with authority if she takes over the club or even becomes a member
remember she isn't as powerless or weak like the other girls
sure she would get nothing if she divorced her hushand but she is an excellent social climber she has the looks and skills to easily find another richer sucker whom she could seduce and convince him to marry her after she divorces her husband with her role as a trophy wife to a rich man she would definitely meet all kinds of powerful men who could easily become her marks so no i don't buy her "i want to become a member of the club" just for the sake of it for one bit

FINALLY Veronica

she ain't no knight in shining armour in one of the early moments of the game she openly says that she considers the MC as nothing more than a human cockroach and had it not for her current situation she wouln't even have ever interacted with someone like the MC let alone like him

but unlike the others her good qualities and her bad qualities are one and the same
she is her own worst enemy
she wouldn't be in this situation if not for her own poor descisions
but like i said her bad qualities are good too
for example she is single minded and stubborn so much so that for the sake of her buisness she lost everthing else but it was the same singlemindedness and stubborness which help her become an olympian and become great athlete
she just needs some good honest figure to help her through her dark times
and unlike the other girls she actually makes an effort to get to know the MC once she gets past the initial phase of treating the MC like a creepy minion of kathy
she wants an honest heart to heart to know and feel the true intentions of the MC
she actually wanted to know what dreams and aspirations of the MC are (other than hana she is the only other person to ask why MC wants to be a doctor) and when the MC and veronica dance she doesn't care if the MC is good or bad she doesn't care that she is dancing in a gay bar with someone she barely knows and called him a cockroach just a weeks ago
she just vibes with it as long as she has a good feeling about the other person no manipulation no mind games no using her bisexuality as a weapon to "entrap" the MC
thats why despite her teasing jokingly about how the MC doesn't truly have any feelings for her and he just wants to "conquer" her before the events end
she doesn't regret her actions nor blames the MC for taking advantage of her when she was drunk
she is as flawed and perverted as the MC too
veronica may or maynot end up falling in love with the MC by the end of the game but there is no reason to doubt her intentions or suspect ulterior motives and even if she looses the event i am pretty sure unlike the other girls she won't just discard the MC or blame him for loosing
someone like her is strong enough to face such a defeat with grace and honest enough to not to blame it on others



and if you don't like anything i wrote don't take it the wrong way personally or accuse me of projecting negativity towards your favourite characters

To be fair, I've just got to this point in the game, and it sounded like I was agreeing not to fuck around with random girls but I would promise to myself to work on creating a throuple which included Mina (might have been wishful thinking on my part!).

So, if we want to keep Mina open as a main girl then we will definitely have to be just fuckbuddies with Hana? Hana is pretty awesome but I don't want to let Mina go.

And more specifically to that conversation with Sophia. As I've not seen it discussed enough.
Chuck tells Sophia:

A friend of mine at Langley had a saying I took a real shining to.
"Life is a joke, so be the punchline."

He also describes said person as the unfunniest person he's ever met besides Sophia.

This is all in the conversation where it's heavily implied that van Doren is old money with no respect for new money types who are at the club.

But the thing I want to call out is Langley. A statement that didn't surprise Sophia so people with info know.
It's highly likely that Chuck is former CIA of some shape or form.

I can't remember exactly where, but isn't it heavily implied that Chuck used to develop and/or sell weapons? It's not really surprising that he'd have CIA contacts with how involved he likely was with shady government shit, but I don't think he was likely directly working for them.

I also agree with Turret that he is probably the scariest of the three club owners, especially considering his interactions with Sophia. Some of his facial expressions, the ugly anticipation he gets from thinking he'll one day beat her at chess and get to have his way, the way many of the girls seem to be afraid of him..... he is a sick fuck, no doubt about it. And TD did well to use one of the oldest tricks in the book, letting implication and imagination supply the truly scary stuff rather than spelling it out for us. But then, TD does basically everything well in writing this game, soooo...

While I agree that Abel is highly probable old money with few respect for new money types, that is not all to it. I will mention it too when I write about Abel, he loaths the Club leaders and most of it´s members. Playing again from the start reenforces that Abel and Sophia stick out like sore thumbs there. I think most members do not see it since they concentrate on their pleasure and Abel sometimes showboating, like him offering Sophia to Chuck. An offer he knew Chuck would decline, since Chuck is near pathological in his need to win first.
I am curious what the backstory of Abel and Chuck is. They know each other quite well, but they are rivals and dislike the other deeply.

As for Chuck and the CIA, I think he worked often together with them, but I think it less likely he was an agent. But he has connections.
