You misunderstand. The distance is normal for a standard conversation, but not for someone trying to avoid an aerosolized aphrodisiac perfume. The MC made a point of wanting to keep some distance between them last time - without much success, admittedly, but he was trying. I'm curious as to whether he's no longer trying or if Sophia is without her signature scent.

Maybe I’m just not imaginative enough, but after reading all of Sophia’s interactions, I just don’t see any solid narrative path where Edwin could sleep with her. So if it does happen, I doubt it’ll feel satisfying to me. Also, just because one girl gets a scene doesn’t automatically mean another will too.
I disagree with that, Sophia is a pretty important character, and Edwin has interacted quite a lot with her, as someone already mentioned there was that option of "Leave an impression on the doctor" where you make out aggresively with her, and if some of the more secondary characters like some house girls or even a random bartender can get a little scene, I don't see how Sophia isn't getting at least a big one.
edit: Are you aware of that Sophia image? because if you haven't seen it, it might change your perspective on her, also knowing her character it would take a single order from Abel to get her to sleep with Edwin, hell if Edwin just walked up and asked him he prob would agree to letting us fuck her lol.

I think what makes Pale Carnation so good is its strong setup. If Abel simply ordered Sophia to sleep with us, sure, it could happen, but the setup would feel weak and forced like that scene with Kathleen and Harper, which didn’t land well for harper. Harper and Sophia aren’t on the same narrative level either. As you mentioned, Sophia is an important character, so any scene involving her and Edwin would need real consequences in the story. On the other hand, characters like the random bartender or the girl at the bar could have scenes added without affecting the narrative too much, since they carry little weight.
Hey, I’d love to be proven wrong, I’m just genuinely intrigued to see how TD handles this part of the story. My skepticism comes from not knowing enough, so I’m actually excited to be enlightened.
The scene with Harper is just a gift, totally optional. I don't think "forced" is the right word. As for Sophia being an important character, sure, but so is Kat and she can be your meat puppet if you want. It has an impact on the narrative and the same could be said for the good doctor. Her being important should have no relation to sleeping with her. As with most other aspects of the game, it should be left up to the player. That's about how it has been so far, so why would they change that now?
