Shit analogy and not even close.
literally exactly the same. Except in your case it's "everyone steals so why shouldn't i". There's a word for that.
Whataboutism.
it's deflecting the argument while offering no real counter argument, it's avoiding the conversation by pointing fingers.

You are comparing illegal acts that require much more to the thought process than "everyone else does it, why can't I" which is why an analogy like that is, always has been and always will be complete shite.

This is games development where devs use a base to make renders be it one base game or another. There is nothing illegal about it unless it's straight copy pasta which this isn't.

I don't see why some people get so angry about this. Sure, you should give credit to the wildlife team, but besides that, isn't using Wild Life to create a VN a good thing?
Just think for example about Honey Select, how many games and VNs are there that use that engine. If you spend a little bit of time you can pose and customize characters and environments quite easy with it. Because of that we have great games like "Once in a Lifetime" or the new game from the same guy "Eternum". And because there are a lot of games made with Honey Select, Honey Select itself probably got a lot more attention. I really think that Wild Life could be, to some extent, kind of the same. With enough customization options for characters/poses and maybe at some point environments, VNs and other types of games made through this game would be a great thing and would also promote Wild Life itself.
So yeah, i think it was just a matter of time that something like this pops up, given the fact that you can already search for "Wild Life game" on something like pornhub and get little cusom made stories as a result.

It's called piracy aka theft.
It looks like you've been on this forum for quite some time now, almost 4 and a half years in fact. Can you tell me how this specifically is piracy, but all the other thousands of games, videos, pictures and comics that have been posted here from Patreon, DLsite, etc. are not?

I mean, you've clearly been here for years and have not had any problem profiting off of the work of others when you're enjoying the content posted here; content you'd normally have to pay for to access.

Besides, this isn't exactly the place to look for professional game developers.

They literally copy and pasted the models, animations and even some of the names.
the only unique thing here is they compiled it into an order to make a VN slideshow.

Also you know jack all about game development. Developers do NOT use a "base". We use a genre blueprint and free engine assets to build a blockout model of the game. Then before public release we replace everything that doesn't fit the theme with custom hand made assets. Nowhere in development will you see someone download paid assets and publish them as their own unless those exact assets include the license to sell them as your own.

now please stop replying with nonsense. The dev already stated he's fine with it. I think it's lazy but it's not up to me or you.

It's a transformative work which falls under fair use, the same as every single other game that uses another game as a base.

Also, you're on a piracy site complaining about piracy ... back in your hole.

downloading something for free for your entertainment or to test play it is different than downloading something for free so you can sell it and make a profit.
I pirate games to see which ones are worth the price tag. Since real demos died 15 years ago.

Not to be that guy but I doubt this would fall under fair use due to the game competing in a similar market, being for commercial purposes, using a substantial amount of the original work, etc. I am not a lawyer, to be fair, but this also isn't the first time I've looked up the relevant US law.

Also there's a bit of a difference between pirating a game for personal enjoyment and pirating a game for personal profit, at least in my eyes, so I don't think the second point quite holds up either... But mostly I just came here to be a legal nerd.

Who cares that it's Wild Life (other than that Wild Life is probably a terrible platform for vn creation). It's just the same as all those other games/VNs using sims/honey select/whatever.
