Parasite Infection 2 ( Early Access build -_-)
Pixeldrain
Greetings,
Thank you kindly for your humble contribution. I was worried that I would have to waste some valuable money on that piece of garbage. The first "game" was alright but what mostly carried it was Modseven's artwork, from my point of view.
Edit :
Holy honk I'm glad we've the chance of some benefactor on these Forums, because the "new" Parasite Infection is indeed a piece of garbage. Amongst the many issues encountered :
- absolute lack of balance : infecting a single character will push the Detection meter forward, and you need to Infest said character to trigger the Mindbreak faster than the Detection meter goes up. Sadly, the more you Infest someone the faster said Detection increases. I literally had Diana mind-broken with merely a pixel worth of wiggle room on the Detection, although she was the only character I've interacted with!
- bugs and glitches : saving the game sometimes didn't work, reloading a save seems to work but somehow manages to preserve data from the previous run which can be either useful or detrimental based on the situation you were previously in with Savannah.
- hard locks : I regularly encountered situations where I lacked the specific Werm, Canal or Starfish to move the story forward. The "game" doesn't warn you about such events nor their prerequisites, and you'll often be forced to close the window and restart (since the save/load feature doesn't work).
- barebone user interface : the U.I. barely explains anything to players. People who skip all the text will inevitably run into the issues of "What does that shit do?!" or forget about the effects of each Parasite's colour (cyan, red and blue). There's also the main protagonist's sanity to keep in check... which you can only do once every morning, rather than having a meter permanently on display and that looks like a major oversight to me?
- the artwork or lack thereof : like I've stated previously, what elevated the first Parasite Infection was Modseven's artwork. Sadly for us all, this "upgraded" release of the "game" contains only A.I. generated pictures. All of them lack consistency and look like the slop you can easily find on websites such as CivitAI. It's genuinely low effort, zero budget and not worthy of the 22$ price tag.
