I think it's the classic "I only have to get one idiot, so I don't care about the 100 people calling me crazy". Too bad it's literally a scam logic.

I'll try to preserve the meaning, though it's more of a moral tale than a joke:

So, there are two brothers who really liked the same girl, and she said: "Whoever can take me to the most expensive restaurant gets me." The guys had one week.

  • The older brother decided to sell Rolexes (real ones! Don’t ask where he got them—I know how dumb it sounds, like, no money to take a girl to a restaurant, but somehow enough to buy a batch of Rolexes? These are old moralistic jokes from like 20 years ago…). Let’s say they cost $1,000 each.
  • The younger brother took a different approach—he sold fake Chinese Rolexes for $10 each.
After a week:

  • The older brother sold only ONE (for $1,000, and rumors say he bought it himself  ).
  • The younger brother sold a whole truckload (obviously making way more money).
So, the moral of the story is: Users aren’t complete idiots—those who really want something will buy it, but common sense should still prevail, because what we have here is not a finished product. My point is: this crap isn’t worth the money, and for the same price, you could get something better and cheaper.

Something like that.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. I'm fine waiting for a free release or for someone to eventually just upload the early access here. I really can't justify paying for something that has been restarted a million times and is still so rough.

The author is really CRAZY (in the worst sense!!!), there is no other way to say it, a real SCAM (even worse than the Operation Lovecraft Fallen doll), but for the sake of interest, FD costs $5, and this crap costs $22, draw your own conclusions.
Moreover, a terrible and old AI with terrible art was used, I am NOT a professional AI user, but even I get better pictures (although I am inspired by my favorite authors, but that is not the point). That is, I could have tried, but he could not.
(if anyone is interested, here are examples of my works) At the same time, I am just learning, but the author is clearly not new to AI, but during all this time he could not come up with a normal style (what can I say about animation, which even I tried to do)
Perhaps some will be familiar to you especially styles (in anime) :)

well.. I tried that early build, and it is, in fact, unsurprisingly not worth 22 dollars.

The opening in the first game is more fun than whatever this is. The AI art could have been a lot closer to the art of the first game if the author trained it better, but nope, it just looks meh. Everything here feels rushed and low quality for the price the author is asking.

The author really is going crazy.

I don't even mind the art being AI, it's going to happen eventually, but the price being $22? And them not having any track record of completing a game?

I'll hard pass on this. Man's actually doubling down on the price making sense ROFLMAO. Waiting to see it get thrown on here eventually. Not even close to being worth it.

Schedule 1 and REPO, the current "popular" games, combined, is only 7 dollars more, give or take. Go buy that instead.

22 dollars as the "lowest" price? Lol, lmao even. This dude really has lost it.
They might even be in competition now with the guy behind "The underworld" for the position of "most obvious game development scam I'm aware of."

For all the guys saying this author is crazy, I vaguely remember him making a post on his patreon going on about how he was tweaking out on acid. So I wouldn't put it past him being blazed when he named that price

At any rate the development lacked direction and changed course willy nilly leaving us with unfocused broken mess.

Whatever he's shooting or smoking

I recall the dev stated he wanted the studio to gives off an appearance of a real triple A game, so their excuse for a one time purchase, a 'respectable' price tag.

lol, lmao even.

Here are my two cents on second game:
  • I would not mind AI artwork so much if done properly. This however does not feel like done with proper workflows. It kind of feels like single prompt AI generation :(
  • First game felt like you had some resemblance of choice and progression. After few hours of this game, it feels more like visual novel. Gone are locations, gone is choice - you can drag single parasite to single slot premade for story (at least in part of game I'm currently in)
  • First game had one protagonist and you were in control of him/her, here are 4 characters and you are some sort of observer.
  • 22$ Is too much. But I don't want to hate on author too much, after all, this is really niche fetish we are talking about :)
  • For a game that has been in development for so long, current build is pretty rough - not even custom app icon or splash screen, not to mention bugs.

Again, I don't want to hate on author. Getting negative feedback after investing in something lots of time and resources must be tough. If nothing else, this is a great example of how not to change game mechanics and how to not hype up release.

I have tried the current release.

Buggy as hell

lacks a roll back option as well which hurts badly for mistakes.

I saved for a chance at better rolls on parasites being born, and the save rolled back and eliminated the one parasite I had and locked me out. It seems to offer chances to make other colored parasites but that is a joke. It also costs a lot to do just anything in the game.

I noticed loading saves also doesn't roll back things that happened, like infecting someone and reloading save, the game already flagged the person as infected regardless of save

Parasite Infection 2 ( Early Access build -_-)
Pixeldrain
Greetings,

Thank you kindly for your humble contribution. I was worried that I would have to waste some valuable money on that piece of garbage. The first "game" was alright but what mostly carried it was Modseven's artwork, from my point of view.

Edit :

Holy honk I'm glad we've the chance of some benefactor on these Forums, because the "new" Parasite Infection is indeed a piece of garbage. Amongst the many issues encountered :

- absolute lack of balance : infecting a single character will push the Detection meter forward, and you need to Infest said character to trigger the Mindbreak faster than the Detection meter goes up. Sadly, the more you Infest someone the faster said Detection increases. I literally had Diana mind-broken with merely a pixel worth of wiggle room on the Detection, although she was the only character I've interacted with!

- bugs and glitches : saving the game sometimes didn't work, reloading a save seems to work but somehow manages to preserve data from the previous run which can be either useful or detrimental based on the situation you were previously in with Savannah.

- hard locks : I regularly encountered situations where I lacked the specific Werm, Canal or Starfish to move the story forward. The "game" doesn't warn you about such events nor their prerequisites, and you'll often be forced to close the window and restart (since the save/load feature doesn't work).

- barebone user interface : the U.I. barely explains anything to players. People who skip all the text will inevitably run into the issues of "What does that shit do?!" or forget about the effects of each Parasite's colour (cyan, red and blue). There's also the main protagonist's sanity to keep in check... which you can only do once every morning, rather than having a meter permanently on display and that looks like a major oversight to me?

- the artwork or lack thereof : like I've stated previously, what elevated the first Parasite Infection was Modseven's artwork. Sadly for us all, this "upgraded" release of the "game" contains only A.I. generated pictures. All of them lack consistency and look like the slop you can easily find on websites such as CivitAI. It's genuinely low effort, zero budget and not worthy of the 22$ price tag.

Art price? The cost WILL increase? Admitting AI slowed you down but then saying it's a "timesaver"?

This guy went full scammer huh?

EDIT: You know, it doesn't sit me right to just leave a done deal message, because I'll be honest. I may be one of the very few people remembering the very alpha of this, the final episode suppose to be you reinfesting everyone while the Antari had taken over and were looking for you, you having a buggy home map to navigate as a parasite.

This game has gone trough SO MUCH REINVENTING that honestly got 1000% forgiven on the idea " when it's finished it's gonna be great ". It literally gathered a status as one game everyone was waiting to be finished and fixed. The story isn't even too bad, part 2 feels what it should have been but too little and too simple, but again, part 2 was forgiven on the idea that the next parts were gonna be bigger.

And now we have a buggy, incomplete mess, the creator switching to a new game, charging the price of a full price 3D indie game on steam for an alpha experience as a minimum, and we are still at the buggy, incomplete, messy TBD stage. After what felt like a DECADE.

This feels just as tasteless as that farming monster sim that caused major wtfage and endless clones. I'll be watching with the popcorns burn down and fall, but this is my reasoning why I'm gonna be negative nancy on this. He should have given a crap when it was time.

After what felt like a DECADE.
It has been over 9 years now, since the game originally released; so its not just a "feels like" thing, it has been close to one.
(Going off the tfgames.site listing, for the release date, which also happens to be where I first found out about the game)
