This dev won't.
Simply because there is no need for that. For now at least.
I want to believe, but are you really sure about that ?

Take the answer they gave to 3Diddly: "[...] If this feature were to be removed from your game so that there is no mention/depiction of incestual or non-consensual activities, then it would fall within our guidelines. This extends to all content on your creator page, direct links that lead to this type of content, and other platforms showcasing work funded through your Patreon." ( by @Ignazzio).

The last few words seem clear to me (but I'm not native English speaker). You can not use Patreon to fund something that goes against their guidelines, this even if the content isn't available from your Patreon page. The only way to comply to those nine last words is to amputate your game, or to not make it available at all until it's finished and you close your Patreon page.
So, in their actual states, games like Summertime Saga, Dating My Daughter and Dreams Of Desire, to list only three, are in violation of the guidelines, whatever how their creator decide to make the game available. Amputation can perhaps works for Summertime Saga, but both DmD and DoD will lose their soul if they to this.

This said, I'm aware that the answer gave to 3Diddly goes in contradiction with what was told to MrDots and Lewlabs. For them, the answer was that, as long as the content in their Patreon page is incest/other free, under the paywall, and without directly link to the game, they were clear.
And here's the problem for me. Patreon have, voluntarily or not, put all this in a grey area. Depending of who you are, the answer you have is different. Or perhaps it depend of the day you ask it, or who answer. But whatever the reason, the fact is that the answer is different and so, what make the creators sure that it will not change again tomorrow ?

I said it, I want to believe and I started full of hope. But the more the days pass, the more difficult it's to believe.

Games of the pornographic nature really only need to abide by the age restriction of characters being 18+ Else it is child pornography and criminal. However what I believe Patreon really aims to crack down on is actual pornographic studios and or small time film makers where it seems too real and unable to disassociate the art from the realism.

Games are purely fictitious worlds where nothing that happens in them consequentially effects the real world. Patreon is being really stupid with their current crack down, though I largely believe adult game developers should be able to skirt around it as long as it isn't plastered on their Public portion of their Patreon Page. So, unless a game is advocating, promoting, or trying to solicit illegal activities creative liberties should still remain solid.

This is almost as bad is if Patreon cracked down on violent video game development. Touchy topics vary in legality mainly inclusive in adult games; incest, rape, necrophilia, bestiality. We've seen this song and dance before about violent games, and the evidence is overwhelming that violent games do not incite violent activity. Therefore such activities in any games will not either. It is purely based on the individual performing the actions in real life and their disassociation with fictional worlds that cause the problems for everyone else.

This is like saying if I pick up a hooker in GTA V and steal a car in the game the REAL cops are going to come to my door and arrest me...
Nonsense needs to stop.

As a game Dev in the works, I am super worried about this update to Patreon, I planned to launch a v.01alpha at the end of the year. The game is similar to Summetime Saga, Second Happiness and My New Life. Though so far all of these devs have their sites up and running with all "questionable" content removed from the public area. So as long as Patreon doesn't give me any issues when I launch I'll be a happy camper.

And that's the problem. They're contradicting themselves. Faerin said he also received similiar message as 3Diddly. Devs cannot be sure how to approach Patreon and Patreon seems to be unable to fully clarify things

Once again, they aren't actually gonna sit there and play the games to determine what content is actually in the game, especially with such a small team Patreon apparently has.

Both those devs probably just got the same gung-ho intern who was trying to scare tactic them.

They can have people doing the checking for them, hell, some people will be happy to do just that.

NTR is pretty much a roleplay fetish.

Yeah if you actually glance in the teacher's pets topic he kind of came to the conclusion he just got some shitty reviewer on a power trip while others seemed to get ones who were just "yeah I don't really care lets get this over with."

Luck of the draw I guess.

It is pretty interesting reading that open letter to patreon because they are obviously trying to build it as patreon trying to target feminist/lgbt related NSFW Patreons, when we all obviously know that wasn't actually the case.

But it could work out because patreon won't want to look like the assholes who target women and gay content creators, although they could just come back and say "we weren't actually focusing on you but the gross people who were targeting you" or some other line of bullshit.

Although it is quite telling that the open letter doesn't really even give specific examples of the people who were actually suspended(generally incest game devs)and instead leans towards they could be trying to silence YOUR feminist goth themed pro sexual liberation podcast!

Are we sure it's mainly those being affected, or are they just the ones we're mostly hearing about?

Honestly I just went by looking over Graphtreon during the whole suspension fiasco.

Like the only ones that were suspended were the games we know of and a few monster rape animation ones it seems.

It appeared none of the camwhores and wannabe porn stars were actually affected and hell half of them still have the exact same page with all sorts of "teehee become my patreon for live newd showz and higher level patreons get swag!"

What about studio fow?, isn't their stuff pretty brutal and breaks their no sexual violence and beast stuff.

Did they have any issues with this? just curious how they dealt with it since they bring in like 30k i think.

At $30K+ months, I don't think Patreon want to lose them, which is funny, because Studio FOW does the kind of things that could get Patreon shut down, and have them under fire in the first place.

The loss of the public build links is probably the biggest thing that could affect the developers. Sometimes the description is not enough to convince someone to put money towards an adult game or novel, and that person needs to be able to play a build of the game in order to be convinced to become a patreon.

That's why places like f95zone will play an even bigger role for developers. Oh, pirates are sooooooo evil... :)
