I received a message from Patreon about an update of their policies and it says that "Creations displaying pornography or graphic depictions of sexual acts " are prohibited from January 15th, 2021 .
Does it mean adult content will be prohibited from Patreon ? Or am i missing something ?

I received that too, I believe it's referring to real porn. 'Creations or benefits with real people engaging in sexual acts'.
I suppose games with real porn could be in trouble.

Well if they want to do that then i expect subscribestar will become the industry standard in all of about fifteen minutes, it will be a big arse ache for devs and set them back in time and patron numbers/income for a while (as if anyone needs more bullshit after 2020) but in the long run it could take us out from under patreon's censorship, which may be be a good thing.

That said the amount of money that patreon brings in through adult game devs must be massive, though i suppose being seen to be kicking out smut would earn them some reputation with certain payment companies, would it be worth it though?

While i am interested to see if as mentioned above that this only applies to RL pornography or if this will extend to any visual depiction of of porn and if that is the case will erotic writers also get kicked, what about text only games, i wonder where they will redraw the line.

The thing is that i don't see anything referring to real porn. And even if it were the case i would not feel secure as an adult content creator to host my money income on this website. I mean some guys here live only with Patreon donations and work their ass off to bring us some quality content ... What could be holding them back (Patreon) to change their policies and say to a community : "you helped us a lot but now go fuck yourself" in the name of a moral hypocrisy. I hope those creators will clarify the situation about Patreon and maybe even show us a new way to support them.

Erotic writers should be safe as far as they don't depict minors in a sexually suggestive manner.

The real porn has been an issue for a while, I seem to remember that Hugo, the original dev behind Bimbo Life Coach, had to make the Patreon version text only and release the image packs here.

What is a project on Patreon?

Your campaign is your project on Patreon. Everything that is offered as a reward, advertised and shared on posts or private messages is considered part of the project that is being funded on Patreon. This includes galleries and socials linked on your Patreon page and also galleries and links that lead to your Patreon page.

___
Which projects can be funded on Patreon?

As long as your project doesn’t violate our Community Guidelines, Benefits Guidelines or Terms of Use, it can be funded on Patreon.

It looks like this is directed at pornography with real people. I know Pornhub removed everything not verified so thinking they are doing some housekeeping themselves.

Didn't get any message(s) from them... yet.

Hopefully they won't mess with h-games. Not like there's any exploitation or abuse going on there, like in real porn.

Damn it, I was hoping to finish my real-porn HTML sandbox somewhere in the next year, but this rules out patreon as an option for me. So, what could be other options besides subscribestar?

EDIT: Couldn't find any...so subscribestar it is. At least I guess I won't have to deal with any of the annoying censorship policy on patreon. There is a separate subscribestar site, subscribestar.adult . It is the same is the regular subscribestar? or is a scam?

My main gripe with subscribestar is that they don't work with paypal, so I'll have to see if I can make a new skrill account since they seem to work with them.

subscribestar.adult is their branch to deal with adult content.

Also Paypal is the reason we are facing all this stuff, so don't expect to use it with anything outside of Patreon. I believe that subscribestar used Paypal along with Patreon, and when they started shitting these rules, Patreon followed it and subscribestar didn't, so Paypal stopped allowing subscribestar to use it.

Thank you for the confirmation, I was afraid that I ended on a fake site or something, now I know where I'll sign in. Subscribestar, here I go.

Patreon not allowing real porn is nothing new. It's in their TOS for at least 3 years now.
Realife pornography or any kind of sexual services involving real humans are prohibited on the site.

And so far nothing have changed in their "game funding" policy. It's their policy for their merchandising service that exclude pornographic content.

" Creations promoting Nazism and Nazi imagery. Specific examples include images featuring Adolf Hitler, Swastikas, the SS logo, or other Nazi-related symbols. "
Next they'll prohibit promoting the idea of a nuclear family and patriotism.

Perhaps new SISEA has something to do with that as well?
I know at the end it is all about money and all for these companies and they will do anything to secure their profit.

Allowing to promote fascism would break major countries laws. We're talking about physical merchandise.

On the link above it says: "We define pornographic material as real people engaging in sexual acts such as masturbation or sexual intercourse on camera. "
