There is no such thing as perfect. Tell me, do you like animated cutscenes in the recent games? I do, they tell the story far better than it was possible without them. But if I want to see cutscenes shouldn't I go see a movie? Wrong. A game should be the best it can be on what it is implementing. Grandia, what was the focus? Everything. The story was nice, the graphics were nice, the characters were charismatic, and the combat is the best J-RPGs ever created. But many will say: "that's a normal game, not a hentai game". Fine, let's take The Last Sovereign by Sierra Lee. It's RPG Maker game with an incredible story, a very surprising plot twist at the beginning, charismatic characters, clear objective to drive you forward, a little management that alone could make you think for hours, and while the combat isn't its primary focus, it had some thought when it was designed. No griding, no sudden deaths, many options of things to do, sex scenes by a great writer that can even be considered good despite not having CGs, and there are plenty of those. When you try to compare this game to that, it's absurd. There is nothing objectively terrible in Sierra Lee game, but here the grinding is terrible, the story is terrible, the combat is barebone, the characters are terrible. And the sex-scenes themselves (not the process to acquire them, which is the focus of some other games), where most efforts were put at, are too short and the CGs have weak to average graphics.
And I saw everything because I'm one of those who actually wait a little more to drop a game, I beat Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and it takes hours for the game to begin in those two. (Great games, but terrible beginning)
Again, if you like it, have fun. But I've things far better.
