I really dislike when a character feels strongly about something only for his resolve to crumble under the slightest touch.
You establish the MC as extremely prejudiced against demons. It's not some default position born from ignorance, it's a hardened belief born from exposure its worse elements. He shows himself incapable of being sensible about this, even with the support and patience of his wife. But in a moment of extreme distress where he fears he's lost everything he holds dear, he's gonna begrudgingly team up with the only suspect he has while she's sassing him left and right?!? In this moment he's gonna show infinite patience and composure?!
It just doesn't work for me. You can't pick THAT moment to start this rom-com odd couple dynamic. There's a limit to what you can walk back once you've already established it!
