I'm gonna wait some time to download this one as i'm not sure if it's verified as being safe. I was one of those that got the malware last time, so gonna wait this one a lil bit.

No, it happens.

Safe? my ass is safe.

They considered 0.73 safe until I kept pestering them that that weird file (the electron.exe) in AppData/roaming et cetera folder wasn't supposed to exist. Then they finally checked and realised.
I think you misunderstood my post. I was answering your question re who was the source for this new update - a mod or the OP, not a random user as there was no post in the thread with a leak for this version.

That's why I asked who uploaded the update.

This thread's first post is from the Author Himself. So, either

- the Author Himself updated the first post and uploaded 0.76;
BBBen on his discord has stated that he doesn't update the thread. So it wasnt from him.

If you don't mind, what kind of malware was it?
Nobody knows what it could do, but some people wiped their system just in case. It would close browser when running the game and there was around 200mb exe file located in c drive where there are game files such as saves, configs, etc. There was also another file hidden there called husbandship or something along those lines, some avs detected them while some couldn't like malwarebytes for example.

Look... I'm no expert on this, but the reason I'm asking is:

Wouldn't you have to modify the executable to get your malware into the game? That sounds like an awful lot of effort unless you have access to the source code... unless you make your own executable that does the malware shit and then starts the game. But then you'd have multiple executable/scripts in the folder. That should be easy to tell.

I guess it depends on what kind of engine he is using. I just wonder how the malware gets in there.

Honestly, I can't grasp what your point is. I'm having the feeling that you are 110% oblivious of what has happened in this thread and what has been happening on F95 Zone since a while:

I am. But I always assumed that was a possibility with the downloads here, so I am not to worried about it. I am not really trying to make a point here. I am just curious about how the "downloader" is being executed.

Since games here are not installed but unzipped, I assume that you would have to modify the game, which seems to be very laborious depending on the game.

Anyway. Thanks for the link.

EDIT:
In the thread you mentioned it explicitly mentions renpy functions. It's very easy to modify a renpy game.

>> That's why I am curious. <<
As far as I can see, the PAT executable is jsut a binary. That should be rather hard to modify.

EDIT 2:
I take back what I said. I researched this for a bit and I think modifying renpy is still easier, but I can definitely think of ways now in which they might have done it.

Yeah, ngl if I see one day uploads from YOU, I won't trust them after your interest and what you wrote, mr. "I see now how games can be modified for malware" :Kappa:

No... that's not my intent. Literally had no clue about what was going on and I have no clue about cyber security. I'm just curious and I also want to keep my pc safe. I went through a bit of trouble to set my pc up in a safe way and I also have a bit of knowledge about programming in general. That's why this is very interesting to me.
