My understanding is that Patreon has explicitly informed the devs that they will not allow them to do this. Basically, they will not allow their platform to be used for the support of creators of content that offends them, even if said content is not available through their site.

Besides which, how the hell are ~X~ and the other devs supposed to develop two parallel games? They're already going to have to all but rebuild PE from the ground up to create a Patreon-compliant version. Given the speed at which this game has progressed, trying to continue the original game while creating what amounts to an entirely new one would bring development to a standstill.

Yeah, I get that. I wasn't suggesting two seperate versions, I was suggesting that maybe they move to a different service, perhaps something like itch.io and abandon Patreon completely. It would be an income cut, to be sure, but I would hope that the devs value what they're trying to make more.

I wonder would it really be "income cut" I mean... there might be players which are supporting the game, but checking every few months, and would stop paying after they find out about changes, there are players which will support the project whatever happens, on the other hand, I'm sure there are players which check every version and would stop paying if devs do adhere to Patreons censorship.

Subscribestar would probably be the dev's best bet.

Quite aside from any disappointment from supporters and fans at the loss of content, kinks or themes that lift their particular luggage (which is far from irrelevant), there's just the issue of the sheer time it would take to do a rework on the scale that Patreon is demanding. It's not like new content for this game has been coming out at an inspiring rate. Just imagine how long it's going to take them to come up with an entirely new core mechanic and edit virtually every scene in the game.

We were just informed by patreon today that the current version is good, so now we keep doing content rollbacks to put back what was needlessly cut and try to adapt some of the removed content to "patreon safe." It's pretty clear that there are some... challenges to working with patreon (to put it nicely) and are exploring other options as. Each service has its own issues though. We'll keep you posted as time goes on!

It would almost certainly be an income cut to move to a new service entirely. Not sure what kind of cut that would be, but I think there will always be some remnant who just never decide to move over for some reason. Contrary to current popular belief, we do care a lot about making the game we want to make. Right now, sticking with patreon was the best thing for the long-term health of the game and our community. We are looking into all funding options, and will let you know if we decide PE is better settled in a new home.

We've def lost a lot of subs early this month, especially when you consider we were having several months of growth. I think things will eventually shake out in the end, no matter the path we choose to take, but it might take some time for the dust to settle.

I know Patreon is likely just relying on reports and maybe some sort of automated script to check the games that they might not want to be funded under their service, but now I'm thinking of some "poor" hapless patreon employee, playing through all the porn games here. Checking for stuff like rape/non-consensual sex, incest, pedophilia, etc.

Poor dude. I like a nice porn game as much as any other, but I barely have the time nor the attention span to play a single short game.

Could you imagine if the dude was an actual fan of the game to begin with, and loved all the non-con stuff, and had to play the new version and make sure everything was kosher?

Apart from the ones that have already been suggested, I'd also go with Secretary, The Good Son, SQ Cruise Ship and Earn Your Freedom.
Each one has their own twist to the feminization theme and they're all very very recommended

So if I become a patron now, would I be able to grab the last normal version before the crack down? Or was that removed completely and replaced with only the Safe For Patreon version? It's a little hard to check with all the posts locked behind a paywall (which really bothers me, but is an entirely separate issue).

Latest non-censored version should be available to everyone already. Check this thread or the TFGS one.
