I kind of envision a rivalry for Julie's affections between Cornell and Simon, or Cornell intends to rekindle the lust between them, and uses Simon to reignite Julie's "jungle fever"! And for Peter... whatever.

That’s the Cuckolding path, and yes - her ethnicity is not mentioned anywhere explicitly (just a photo shown, indicating her mixed heritage).
