1 year without update = abandoned! Why should this project be any different?

Real Pokémon games are released every year, and look how bad they are. I prefer having a long time without updates and getting a big one, rather than getting a poor update every two weeks.
If I have a twitter account, my request would be Allie sitting on a bench with her legs spread open as she gets penetrated by a small Pokemon like an Oddish (it would fit comfortably while standing on the same bench).Hinorashi (from twitter) said:

No idea what to do for the 'seeing the unseen' quest in greyfield. Put the blindfold on, keep seeing wisps, even found a ghost guy, but no idea what to actually do (psychic lady keeps telling me to help find them.) any help?
Also, after dealing with Silph Co, rival goes to beat 7th gym. I've already beaten the 7th gym, does this mess up my save? Or do I just go looking for the 8th gym?

No, beating the 7th Gym does not mess with your save. Have you visited the upstairs of the Greyfield Pokémon Center?
The 8th Gym isn't in yet. It will be added in the next update. No, we don't know when that will be. There's a Dev Blog linked in the first post of this thread.
Well if so much work has been done why not update the game? It's not like the game doesn't have bugs in it, already
I agree the current build could probably be released and we'd all be very happy, but Hinoarashi has an idea of a minimum amount of new content to be 'enough'. Apparently, it's not there, yet. The last couple of releases were kind of anemic, actually. I think the idea is to have a big update, instead.
Doesn't help there's apparently a friend that is urging not to release until the Elite 4 are in.
seems like frequent releases is a better way to grab a following, imo. you start to lose people when you don't give them anything new for years.

I hardly doubt they care that much about having a following. They're doing it for free (Y'know, cuz Big Brother N is watching) so it's likely just something they do for fun. They're not really under any pressure to release now or later.
Hell too much of a following might even be a Bad thing since it might catch the Red N's eye and instantly get them hit with a C&D
True but it's been 2 years since a game update, that's a pretty slow rate we're looking at.
Woah--- finally downloaded the 2023 update. The pokemon have different cries....sounds strange. Not sure if that was something they did in the games after Gen IV (which is when i stopped buying new pokemon games)
Other Projects also gotten tagged as abandoned despite their creators given weekly update posts.
Not that it made sense in those cases, but its still weird that this game is treated differently.
