Meh, meanwhile, "friendship with benefits": *just exists*. Why isn't hasntbro trying to do anything with this game?
And despite the "legacy" version with the same names, colors as in the original, this game even sold on the Steam!

It's hard to compare two good games, but yours definitely conveys the spirit of the series better..
could be one was complete within a set amount of time so Hasbro couldn't do anything to stop it
and the other one took its time getting complete and got shut down before it could finish.

or the developer didn't want to work on it anymore for various of reasons and so they just made up like they got a cease-and-desist thing, so that they would have a excuse not to work on it anymore.

either way it's a damn shame.

The more alarming thing about that game is that it has copyrighted songs from games like Devil May Cry and such as well as backgrounds that the creator just took off google and flipped or blurred.

We got shut down by Hasbro. I have no idea how Friendship with Benefits can be sold for money.

In my opinion, "friendship with benefits" has the characters be ponies in human form that do not infringe upons Hasbro's design.
While Pony Tale Adventures strike hot with the copyright infringement.
Seeing how companies are becoming greedy with their IP's. Like GW, Disney and Blizzard. It would have been better to continue the game for the love of the franchise rather than respecting the wishes of greedy corporate executives. Just as WH40k fans are rebelling against GW copyright attacks.

Will there be any hopes at an attempt to 'remake/restart/edit' the game to the point it won't infringe without changing your base plans/hopes?

If I ever did I would have to change quite a lot. I'm no longer involved with the rest of the team that worked on the last two Unity versions. It would probably have to be a complete revamp of everything outside of my artwork.

if you ever did, it'd be fine i think. the artwork was what i cared about the most in this game honestly speaking. the story doesn't need to be the same. the systems and ui were neat but they're a good bonus, they're not indispensable, the basic make choices and see where it takes you with a basic inventory/map would be more than fine (kinda like p.w.s). (edit: maybe taking a page from f.w.b and changing colors/names and cutie marks would be enough. along with some sort of system to customise all of it and load downloadable presets made by fans. that way peoples could just mod whatever they'd want in)

anyone who disagree with me is free to quote me, more points of views = better.

When downloading, it is written that this is the nsfw version of the game, but there was not a single nsfw moment during the whole game, why did it happen? I know that there were dicks and other interesting things in some SOOO old build, but why aren't they here, or are they still there? Help.

I came up with the majority of the UI design across both projects so all of that stuff is fine if I ever wanted to reuse it.

yeah, I know, just one voice but if I may throw in my two cents honestly the fact this thread is still continuing despite the game being dead back on page 15 is telling that a reboot (considering would have to change too much for it to be considered a remake) does have some interest on it, though it does seem that the main pothole people had with the old version was it was advertised as an adult game (at least one version of it) but outside of small things here and there the NSFW version was all but the same as the SFW version. So if I had to offer any advice IF you decide to eventually take a look back at this project is threefold.

1. decide at the start whether the game will be SFW or NSFW, considering the old game prioritizing itself to SFW but in the same breath having a claim it is NSFW via an NSFW version was throwing people off. (before anyone gets on me I'm aware it came up multiple times the team was prioritizing SFW, but because the game had an NSFW it was being perceived as NSFW considering how many times 'where is the NSFW' or 'i accidentally grabbed the SFW version' came up in this forum alone.) plus only needing to concentrate on one version will make for less need to be stretched out.

2. to avoid a repeat cease and desist it would likely be best to pull a friendship is benefits and design the characters to be off-shoots (different colors and names) but can easily be reverted back to their old selves via outside sources such as modding.

3.no need to rush but an update on progress maybe every three to two (could push to one month if you feel the need) months if you decide to make the project public knowledge honestly would probably help deter people from claiming the game is dead.

Most importantly no one is pressuring you to start back up the game. you do NOT have to do it. people have come to terms as far as I can see with the fact the game was killed by a claim. sure a reboot would likely be a pleasant surprise but no one is going to force you to do it, especially if it will get in the way or bog down other projects you have, or force you to make something you are not passionate about.

I did really enjoy this game, both SFW and NSFW versions. I just suppose I never really understood why it was told to cease by the creators of MLP (if I remember correctly) where was plenty of other MLP parody games had continued. But I'd love to see this game again, but if its decided on to let it lie, than that'll be ok too. No pressure to pick it back up.

I would take that one of the reasons is how close to the show it looked and behaved. If it had been more obvious porn and not present itself with the SFW bit, it could still be going. Then again it could be just bad luck.

more likely it was similar to peaches untold tale. it got to popular/to much attention so hasbro stepped in to 'protect there assets' mind you I might be wrong considering nintendo is notorious for crushing fan projects they find.

Friendship with Benefits did way more than just changing the colors and names. That alone would not protect any project trying to be a MLP game from being shut down if it came to it. And I personally have no interest in playing a FwB repeat situation with but the ponies in actual pony forms, as in quadrupeds.

It's also worth mentioning that not even modding was able to restore the characters in FwB to how they should have been.

Two things. I followed the friendship with benefits development, for a large part of it they had the characters be copies of the canon versions, before eventually swapping over to the recolor/fan characters to avoid stepping on the copyright since they wanted to go legit so recolor and rename does work as long as you don't make it painfully obvious they are say a twilight with a new coat of paint.

and two, the reason the modding was not really able to restore the characters was because after a certain point (around the time said color and name swap occurred) they stopped producing art in the original characters version so from that point on people had to take the new art and recolor/retool that to fit the old color schemes. if the game was made with the original colors in mind can easily imagine hiding the pre-color swap art in the coding someplace a developer wouldn't really immediately notice.

Lotta options and ideas there but I'm also helping with PWS now so I may have to think on it some more.
